Burton on Harvick: “That was aggressive! Wow…. He just drove to the bottom and said I’m not going let you drive into the back of me. He went to the bottom — that’s the slower lane — he knew Denny Hamlin was going move him out of the way.”
Earnhardt Jr. on the battle for first: “A win is a win and you’ll do anything for it.”
Burton on the end of the race: “Just two drivers going at it. We’re the winners for it.”
Letarte on the last lap: “Denny Hamlin gave him a shove in (turns) one and two, and they beat and banged to the line. Kevin Harvick on older tires, he had to be perfect, lap after lap.”
Burton on Denny Hamlin in the final laps: “Denny is faster almost every lap, but just a little faster.”
Letarte on Kevin Harvick with 14 to go: “Kevin Harvick knows what it’s like to must-win in the playoffs. He is Mr. Must-win.”
Earnhardt Jr. on Kevin Harvick with 15 to go: “I can’t believe we’re standing here in July talking about Kevin Harvick being winless. This isn’t the team that questions if they should make the playoffs, this is a team that has not missed the final four at Miami. They race for championships.”
Letarte on Erik Jones, who finished third in Stage 1: “We talked about the gamble, the risk… the #20 took a gamble, took two tires, to stay in this second position, and they’re going to get a big chunk of points to help that run and try and make the playoffs”
Earnhardt Jr. on aggressive driving: “Everybody’s trying to fight for that bottom on exit what are willing do to how aggressive are you willing to get on a guy if you’re on the inside? Do you drive in his door?”
Letarte on Alex Bowman and the #88 team: “This is one of those weekends that if they can somehow recover and have a good week, it’s a team building type weekend.”
Letarte on fuel strategy: “You don’t think fuel matters at a short track, but it matters at this one-mile track. Strategy could be everything.”
Snider on the heat at the track: “That’s tough on these crew guys to get two back-up cars ready. They had 20 people, including JRM guys, working on the car to get it ready for today.”
