STAMFORD, Conn. – August 29, 2019 – Current 200m world leader and U.S. champion Noah Lyles, as well as Olympic gold medalists Dalilah Muhammad, Allyson Felix and Justin Gatlin highlight extensive Track & Field Olympic sports programming across NBC Sports this week.
The IAAF Diamond League series continues this weekend in Zurich with the penultimate stop on the circuit, the first of two Finals. Lyles, the two-time reigning Diamond League champion at 200 meters, will be competing in the men’s 100 meter race this week against two-time 100-meter world champion Justin Gatlin. He will also race in next week’s Diamond League Final in Brussels, where he will look to defend his 200-meter title.
2016 Olympic gold medalist Dalilah Muhammad is also expected to compete in this week’s Diamond League Final in the women’s 400-meter hurdles. Muhammad, who set the world record at the U.S. Championships in July, will compete against fellow American Sydney McLaughlin, who has the second-fastest time in the women’s 400-meter hurdles this year. Muhammad and McLaughlin are the only two women to run that race in under 53 seconds this year.
NBCSN and NBC Sports Gold’s Track & Field Pass will present live coverage of the IAAF Diamond League today at 2 p.m. ET.
The IAAF World Challenge is an annual global circuit covering the second level (after Diamond League) of athletics meetings throughout the season. Unlike the Diamond League, the World Challenge comprises stand-alone meetings, and no overall winners are crowned. IAAF World Challenge makes stops in Berlin, Germany, and Zagreb, Croatia, this week.
2012 Olympic gold medalist and three-time 200-meter world champion Allyson Felix as well as Justin Gatlin are expected to compete in next week’s IAAF World Challenge Zagreb, Croatia. Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will present live TV coverage of the meeting from Zagreb on Tuesday, September 3, at 1 p.m. ET.
Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will also present coverage of the meeting from Berlin on Sunday, September 1, at 3 p.m. ET. No Americans are scheduled to compete.

UCI WORLD MOUNTAIN BIKE CHAMPIONSHIPS – MONTE-SAINT-ANNE, QUEBEC
LIVE COVERAGE BEGINS SATURDAY AT 12:15 P.M. ET ON OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA AND NBC SPORTS GOLD
The UCI World Mountain Bike Championships this weekend from Monte-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, will have Olympic spots and qualification points up for grabs. The U.S. women are currently ranked second in Olympic qualification rankings, led by world No. 1 Kate Courtney, which would earn them three spots next summer in Tokyo if they remain in that position until next spring. The U.S. men are currently seated at 10th place, which would earn them one spot at the Tokyo Games.
Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and NBC Sports Gold will present live coverage of the women’s cross-country event Saturday at 12:15 p.m., followed by the men’s cross-country event at 2:45 p.m. ET.
WORLD ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS – LINZ-OTTENSHEIM, AUSTRIA
NBCSN PRESENTS COVERAGE TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT
The world’s best rowers will continue to compete for medals and Olympic quota spots at the World Rowing Championships in Austria this week. Fifty-nine boats per gender across seven disciplines can earn Olympic spots for their countries through their placements at Worlds. The U.S. has 29 crews competing; its strongest is expected to be the women’s eight, in which the Americans have won the last three Olympic gold medals and are the defending world champions. The women’s eight final takes place on Sunday, September 1.

COVERAGE CONTINUES THURSDAY AT 9 A.M. ON NBC SPORTS GOLD
The final Grand Tour of 2019 – after the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France – continues this week, consisting of 21 stages and covering over 2,000 miles through Spain. The race began in 1935, and has been held annually since 1955, passing through the Spain’s mountain ranges and finishing in Madrid (this year’s course will also cross into France). Three-time Tour de France podium finisher and 2016 Vuelta champion Nairo Quintana (Colombia) and 2009 Vuelta winner Alejandro Valverde (Spain) headline the field.

FIG GYMNASTICS WORLD CHALLENGE CUP
TV COVERAGE BEGINS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 AT 8 P.M. ET ON OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA
The gymnastics World Challenge Cup series continues with a rhythmic competition in Kazan, Russia, and an artistic competition in Mersin, Turkey, for both groups and individual gymnasts. Three-time U.S. all-around medalist Evita Griskenas and two-time Pan American Games team champion Lili Mizuno are expected to represent the Americans in Kazan. No Americans are expected to compete in Mersin.
Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA presents TV coverage of the rhythmic competition from Kazan on Sunday, September 1, at 8 p.m. ET. TV coverage of the artistic competition from Mersin begins Sunday at 10 p.m. ET with Part 1 of Apparatus Finals, followed by Part 2 on Monday, September 2, at 8 p.m. ET.
