DAVIS: MOUNTAINEERS DEFENSE NEEDS TO CONTAIN LONGHORNS GROUND GAME TO PREVENT UPSET – FOX College Football Lead Analyst Charles Davis heads to Austin this weekend to call the must-watch game of the week when No. 11 Texas hosts No. 8 West Virginia. Davis foresees another offensive showcase from the Mountaineers led by current Heisman front-runner Geno Smith but thinks the Longhorns can compete with their ground game. “Anyone who throws for over 600 yards deserves to headline the Heisman talk but Geno has a big challenge this week against Texas. West Virginia can score, we saw 70 last week but Baylor dropped 63 on the Mountaineers and Texas can score too. West Virginia didn’t slow Baylor down on the ground last week which means Texas will really try to run the football. Texas has three running backs they like to rotate in and all three are capable of going well over 100 yards. They have contrasting styles but both know how to score.”

BATTLE OF PENNSYLVANIA TAKES CENTER STAGE ON FOX – The NFL on FOX marches into Week 5 this Sunday, Oct. 7 with singleheader coverage of five hard-hitting matchups. In Pittsburgh, a high-profile matchup takes top-billing as Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers host Michael Vick and the Eagles. Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Pam Oliver call the action from Heinz Field. With their offense seemingly back in gear, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers face Colts rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. Undefeated and looking like the best in the NFC, Matt Ryan and the Falcons are on the road to take on Robert Griffin III and the Redskins. The 4:00 window features Jay Cutler and the Bears taking on the Jaguars in Jacksonville while Cam Newton and the Panthers host Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.
Coverage begins at 12:00 PM ET with America’s No. 1 pregame show, FOX NFL SUNDAY. Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee co-host the Emmy Award-winning program and are joined by analysts Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy Johnson. NFL Insider Jay Glazer breaks the latest league news and scoops from the FOX NFL SUNDAY studio while NFL rules analyst Mike Pereira discusses the previous week’s important impactful calls and points of emphasis in officiating. Comedic prognosticator Rob Riggle provides his weekly picks segment. This week, actor & comedian Kevin James opens the show while “BEING: Greg Jennings” provides a behind-the-scenes look at Greg’s life outside of football. The feature offers fans an all-access pass as Jennings shifts gears from action on the gridiron to the action at home from getting his daughters ready for school, speaking at a community event, flying an airplane and battling back from his Week 4 injury. Also, Strahan breaks down the Bears defense which leads the NFL with 14 takeaways.

BILLICK EXAMINES IMPACT OF COLTS AND LUCK LOSING HEAD COACH – It was announced earlier this week that Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with a treatable form of leukemia and is out indefinitely while he receives treatment. Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians takes over as interim head coach. NFL on FOX analyst and Super Bowl-winning head coach Brian Billick looked at the impact the midseason change will have on the Colts and Andrew Luck on the Colin Cowherd show earlier this week. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Chuck and his family. It is a jolt because they’re building something there. Obviously going forward it’s all about developing Andrew Luck and that young offense while piecing together some of the things defensively,” said Billick. “This is a blow. It’s something that they’re going to have to gather the troops around. They’ll be worrying about Chuck, but by the same token saying ‘Ok, we still have to have that growth. We have an opportunity and an obligation to one another to go forward.’ So it will be a rallying of the troops and with the team feeding off of that emotion.”
BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE AIRS OPPOSITE NFL SINGLEHEADER COVERAGE SUNDAY ON FOX – Coming off their first loss to Tottenham at Old Trafford since 1989, Manchester United hopes to tap into its league leading offense and rebound this Sunday, Oct. 7th (10:30 AM ET) against Newcastle United. The match airs LIVE on FOX Soccer with a delayed encore presentation on FOX Sports (check local listings).* Finding themselves in a very unfamiliar third-place in the standings, the Red Devils must now travel to Sports Direct Arena to face a Newcastle United side capable of delivering another upset, especially with the league’s leading talisman Demba Ba (6) wearing the iconic white and black striped jersey.

UFC ON FX: BROWNE VS. BIGFOOT INTERESTING FIGHT WITH TWO HUGE HEAVYWEIGHTS UFC ON FX: BROWNE VS. BIGFOOT is expected to be a thriller as unbeaten heavyweight sensation Travis Browne takes on Brazilian contender Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, Friday, Oct. 5 (8:00 PM ET) on FX. FUEL TV’s “UFC Tonight” analyst and former UFC Fighter Kenny Florian previewed the matchup. “Travis Browne is a huge heavyweight, but he fights like a light heavyweight,” says Florian. “He’s very dynamic and athletic. ‘Bigfoot’ Silva – they call him ‘Bigfoot’ for a reason. He’s another dynamic fighter who can get it done with his striking and on the ground. ‘Bigfoot’ is a guy who dominated (former heavyweight legend) Fedor Emelianenko, which is no small task, so it’s going to be an interesting fight with two huge heavyweights.”
The action kicks-off on FUEL TV Thursday, Oct. 4 (4:00 PM ET) with the live UFC Weigh-in on FUEL TV, hosted by veteran combat sports journalist Karyn Bryant. UFC Flyweight fighter Joseph Benavidez offers analysis and two-time MMA Journalist of the Year Ariel Helwani conducts backstage interviews. FUEL TV telecasts the prelims on Friday, Oct. 5 (5:00 PM ET) with Jon Anik and Florian calling the fights. FUEL TV wraps coverage of the main event Friday night with the live UFC Postfight Show on FUEL TV (11:00 PM ET). Host Jay Glazer leads the one-hour recap, with UFC veteran Chael Sonnen and Benavidez analysis.
