NFL Network’s Rich Eisen Talks to Former Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw
Rich Eisen conducted a phone interview with former Steelers QB and FOX NFL Analyst Terry Bradshaw on the Steelers and QB Ben Roethlisberger.
Below are select quotes from the phone interview. The entire interview with be featured on NFL Total Access Thursday at 7:00 PM ET on NFL Network.
Bradshaw on Steelers potentially imposing disciplinary action against Ben Roethlisberger:
“I believe there will be a suspension, I think there should be. Two games or four games, especially when you’re talking about a guy in a leadership position with a very proud franchise, one that’s built on character and family values like that of the Rooney family. I think it’s a good decision by the Steelers to let the Commissioner make his ruling first, then follow.”
Bradshaw on the possibility of the Steelers trading Roethlisberger:
“I don’t think that’s the case right now. I think there will be no tolerance from this day forward. If there is a third (incident), I don’t doubt at all that the Steelers would release or trade him. They got rid of Santonio Holmes, of course he’s not the quarterback, but I know the Rooneys, I know how they think. They’re not happy right now. They’re plenty upset with what he’s done and the embarrassment he’s caused the city, team, players and family.
That being said, you never know. Some team could come across right now and say, ‘we’ll give you two number one picks’ and we could be talking about my god, ‘can you believe the Steelers traded him?’ This is a good wake-up call. The Steelers not answering the trade questions makes public to Ben and his agent just how serious they are about what’s been going on with him.”
Bradshaw on advice he’d give to Roethlisberger moving forward:
“My advice to him would be you surrounded yourself with people to protect you since you’re an elite athlete. I would fire those people and get some new folks because they’re not doing a very good job. You can’t have “yes” people around you, going to clubs. The other thing is stay out of bars. Get out of college towns, stay out of bars. Concentrate on your career. Your image is taking a hit and I don’t think that goes away anytime soon.”
