NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football analyst Mike Mayock previews the upcoming matchup between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, December 8 at 8:00 PM ET. Mayock serves as game analyst and Brad Nessler provides the play-by-play. Alex Flanagan provides reports from the sidelines of Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
“The key for Cleveland this week is to stop the run. The last two weeks, the defense has been gashed. On Sunday, Ray Rice and the Baltimore offense rushed for nearly 300 yards. You can’t win a game that way. Two weeks ago, Cedric Benson went for more than 100 yards. If Pittsburgh can run the ball effectively it’s going to be a long night for the Browns.” — NFL Network’s Mike Mayock on the Steelers offense vs. the Browns defense
“When Cleveland is on offense, I know they want to run the football and they have to have some success. If Peyton Hillis is healthy that will help. But they have to start getting the ball down the field a little bit more. When you chart their passing game, in the last two games they’ve thrown the ball 70 times. Of those 70 passes, 55 were thrown within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. They are not stretching the defense enough and they have got to get the football down the field if they are going to have any chance of running the football.” — NFL Network’s Mike Mayock on the Cleveland Browns offense
The Thursday Night Kickoff Presented by Sears pregame show kicks off NFL Network’s coverage on Thursday at 6:00 PM ET, featuring a sitdown interview with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin.
