The two-time Emmy-nominated series which Sabol himself gave a name to – A Football Life – continues Tuesday, October 1 at 9:00 PM ET on NFL Network with a remembrance of the late president of NFL Films and one of the most influential people in the history of the National Football League.
The one-hour documentary features footage from classic NFL Films movies and interviews, family photos and old films of Steve, and time spent at home and with his family. Additionally, throughout the show, NFL Films employees read thousands of emails which were sent to Steve following his seizure in 2011, and individuals who Steve reached out to and inspired share their memories. It is a film about Steve told by those who knew him best – family, friends, co-workers – and those who didn’t know him at all.
New this season, A Football Life: Backstory airs following each episode at 10:00 PM ET on NFL Network. This week, it is hosted by Rich Eisen.
The 30-minute show will provide a deeper look at the life and legacy of Steve Sabol. Former Super Bowl-winning coach Dick Vermeil, former Pro Bowl quarterback Ron Jaworski, and NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock join the show.

Start the day off with the NFL. NFL AM airs Monday – Friday at 6:00 AM ET offering analysis, reports from correspondents in several NFL cities, interviews with players and coaches, and game highlights.

The Rich Eisen Podcast welcomes in a handful of marquee guests this week. First, Major League Baseball’s Iron Man Cal Ripken, Jr. calls into the podcast. The Baltimore Orioles legend who doubles as a Ravens season ticket holder discusses the current Super Bowl Champions. Has he ever considered becoming a baseball manager? He tackles the subject including admitting what he heard about the job from Dodgers manager Don Mattingly.
Also, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll joins Rich Eisen to discuss his team’s come from behind win against the Houston Texans. The Seahawks trailed 20-3 at halftime, but rallied to force overtime when cornerback Richard Sherman returned an interception for a touchdown. The Seahawks would kick a field goal in overtime and win 23-20. Carroll and Seahawks now face quarterback Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts. Carroll also touches on the University of Southern California football team and former head coach Lane Kiffin.
Finally, Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet stops by the podcast to talk about his undefeated Kansas City Chiefs and TV critic James Poniewozik calls in to discuss the Breaking Bad season finale.
