NBC Sports Group Presents More Than 17 Hours of Trackside Coverage from New Hampshire
STAMFORD, Conn. – July 13, 2017 – NBC Sports Group continues its 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series and Formula One coverage this weekend, highlighted by the Honda Indy Toronto on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on CNBC, and the Formula One British Grand Prix on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. ET on CNBC.
In addition, NBC Sports Group will provide 17 hours of trackside coverage from this weekend’s XFINITY and Cup Series events in New Hampshire.
INDYCAR HONDA INDY TORONTO – SUNDAY AT 3 P.M. ET ON CNBC
NBCSN continues its coverage of the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series this Sunday at 3 p.m. ET from the streets of Toronto. Helio Castroneves (Penske) earned his first victory in more than three years with his win in the Iowa Corn 300 last Sunday, and now sits in second place in the championship standings (395 points), just eight points behind Scott Dixon (403 points; Chip Ganassi Racing). Last year’s champion, Simon Pagenaud (Penske) is currently in third place (372 points), followed by Will Power (350 points; Penske), who won last year’s race in Toronto.
NBCSN will televise qualifying on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET. Live coverage of the Honda Indy Toronto will air on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on CNBC. NBCSN will air an encore presentation of the race on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET, and will televise the Indy Lights race from Toronto on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.
Kevin Lee (play-by-play) will call the action alongside Townsend Bell and Toronto native and two-time Honda Indy Toronto champion Paul Tracy. Reporters Jon Beekhuis, Katie Hargitt, Robin Miller and Anders Krohn will report from the pits.
F1 BRITISH GRAND PRIX – SUNDAY AT 7:30 A.M. ET ON CNBC
Coverage of the 2017 Formula One season continues this Sunday at 7:30 a.m. ET on CNBC with the British Grand Prix from iconic Silverstone Circuit. Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) won last weekend at Austria for his second victory of the 2017 campaign and has entered the championship conversation. Bottas (136 points) is now just 15 points behind Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton (151 points), and 35 points behind Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel (171 points). Hamilton has won his home race four times overall, including each of the past three years. Vettel’s lone win at Silverstone came in 2009 with Red Bull.
Coverage begins Friday on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app at 4 a.m. ET with Practice 1, followed by Practice 2 at 8 a.m. ET, which will air on NBCSN at 2 p.m. ET. NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will stream Practice 3 on Saturday at 5 a.m. ET, prior to CNBC’s live coverage of qualifying at 8 a.m. ET, which will air on NBCSN at 2 p.m. ET. Live race coverage from Silverstone begins Sunday at 7:30 a.m. ET on CNBC.
NBC Sports Group’s lead F1 broadcast team of Leigh Diffey (play-by-play), veteran analyst and former racecar driver David Hobbs, and analyst and former race mechanic for the Benetton F1 team Steve Matchett will call the action. F1 insider Will Buxton will report on-site from Silverstone.
2017 INDYCAR SEASON ON NBCSN IS NETWORK’S MOST-WATCHED SEASON TO-DATE; 2017 F1 VIEWERSHIP UP 16% VS. LAST YEAR
Through six races, NBCSN’s coverage of the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series has averaged 474,000 viewers to rank as NBCSN’s most-watched IndyCar season on record to-date. Viewership is up 16% vs. the comparable five races in 2016 (408,000).
Through nine races, NBC Sports Group’s 2017 F1 coverage has averaged 579,000 viewers, up 16% vs. the same point in 2016 (eight races; 498,000).
