STAMFORD, Conn. – June 2, 2016 – NBC Sports Group continues its robust coverage of the 2016 cycling season with daily live coverage of the Criterium du Dauphine, beginning with the Prologue this Sunday, June 5, at 7:30 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Live Extra. NBCSN presents daily encore presentations throughout the race, beginning this Sunday at 11:30 p.m. ET. Coverage of the week-long race culminates Monday, June 13, at 7:35 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Live Extra.
The rigorous Criterium du Dauphine course begins with a mountain Prologue time trial in the French Alps, and features four additional mountain summit finishes over the course of the eight stages of the race. Two-time Criterium de Dauphine champion Chris Froome (Team Sky) returns to the race this year, and looks to defend his title against Alberto Contador (Tinkoff), who has never finished outside the top ten in his five times competing in the race. Froome and Contador will be joined by Richie Porte (BMC), who finished runner-up in 2013.
Steve Schlanger handles play-by-play for the Criterium du Dauphine, alongside analyst Christain Vande Velde.
