Networks Combine for More Than 60 Hours of Coverage for All Six Grand Prix Events and the Grand Prix Final
New York and Los Angeles – October 12, 2011 – NBC Sports and Universal Sports Network will exclusively present all International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating competitions, including the concluding Grand Prix Final. In addition, UniversalSports.com will stream live coverage of six Grand Prix events, beginning with Skate Canada through the Grand Prix Final, for a subscription price of $14.95 for all of the events. NBC and Universal Sports Network’s broadcast team for the Grand Prix series will include play-by-play announcers Terry Gannon and Andrea Joyce, joined by a mix of analysts including NBC’s Olympic figure skating analyst Scott Hamilton, an Olympic gold medalist and four-time World champion figure skater; Olympic gold medalist and World and U.S. champion Tara Lipinski; Olympic silver medalist and four-time World medalist ice dancer Tanith Belbin; Olympic silver medalist and four-time U.S. champion pair skater Peter Carruthers; three-time U.S. champion and two-time World bronze medalist Michael Weiss; and Olympic bronze medalist and three-time World bronze medalist ice dancer Tracy Wilson. Additional analysts will be announced at a later date.
The Grand Prix series is comprised of the following events: Skate America from Ontario, Calif.; Skate Canada from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; Cup of China from Shanghai, China; NHK Trophy from Sapporo, Japan; Trophée Eric Bompard from Paris, France; Rostelecom Cup from Moscow, Russia; and the Grand Prix Final from Quebec City, Canada.
The Grand Prix competitions are the latest Universal Sports Network events to be featured in the network’s national marketing campaign alerting viewers about its transition from over-the-air distribution to a multi-platform, high definition cable, satellite and IPTV service beginning in 2012.
