NBA TV Analysts Share Insights from NBA Summer League in Las Vegas
NBA Digital’s extensive coverage of NBA Summer League 2013 will continue with the opening round of tournament action from Las Vegas beginning today, Wednesday, July 17, at 6 p.m. ET, and will culminate with the inaugural NBA Summer League Championship on Monday, July 22, at 9 p.m. Each tournament game will be televised on NBA TV with a bracket and full schedule available on NBA.com. This is the first time in the event’s history that a tournament-style schedule is being played.
All NBA Summer League games are also available through NBA Summer League Live on NBA.com and NBA Mobile. NBA Summer League Live – available via NBA.com, the App Store and Google Play – is a subscription service offering fans a full slate of live and archived games for the remainder of NBA Summer League for $4.99.
Through the first week of NBA Summer League, NBA TV has conducted more than 30 interviews with NBA personnel including current players, head coaches and front office executives. Interviews have featured the first overall draft pick Anthony Bennett of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Chicago Bulls Head Coach Tom Thibodeau and new Los Angeles Clippers Head Coach Doc Rivers.
NBA TV analysts Steve Kerr and Reggie Miller offer observations from NBA Summer League in Las Vegas:
Kerr on Orlando’s top draft pick Victor Oladipo – “Ultimately, I think Victor Oladipo will be the best player from this draft class. He should start this year for Orlando and thrive in the NBA game.”
Miller on being impressed by Clippers rookie Reggie Bullock and Atlanta’s Lucas Nogueira – “Reggie Bullock couldn’t have been drafted by a better team than the Clippers. They need floor spacers and they got a good one in Reggie. [Lucas] Nogueira is raw but yet talented at both ends of the floor. The Hawks got a steal with him and he should help their front court.”
Kerr’s assessment of Portland’s C.J. McCollum and the Clipper’s Bullock – “The game seems easy for C.J. McCollum because he shoots with ease from anywhere and he has a great handle on the ball. Reggie Bullock has deep range, but I really like his potential defensively with his 6’7” frame and long arms.”
Miller on Charlotte’s Cody Zeller – “Cody Zeller is the most NBA ready…his physical nature should help in his development, plus he will get the time and opportunity in Charlotte.”
Kerr on how Ray McCallum could fit in with the Sacramento Kings – “I like Ray McCallum…he has a chance to play right away for the Kings because he’s much more of a true point than Isaiah Thomas or Jimmer Fredette. I would expect Greivis Vasquez to start for the Kings, but McCallum has the ability and the poise to play now.”
Kerr on the Hawks’ impressive trio of rookies (Dennis Schroeder, Mike Muscala and Lucas Nogueira) – “All three are raw and young and need more strength, but I like their potential to eventually become good players in the league.”
