Exclusive Live Coverage of Season-Opener Begins on “Snow Pass” Saturday at 4 a.m. ET with Women’s Giant Slalom
Austrian Olympic Gold Medalist Marcel Hirscher to Compete in Men’s Giant Slalom
STAMFORD, Conn. – October 25, 2018 – U.S. Olympic gold medalists Mikaela Shiffrin and Ted Ligety headline live coverage of the FIS Alpine World Cup season-opener in Solden, Austria, this weekend as part of six hours of exclusive giant slalom streaming coverage on NBC Sports Gold’s “Snow Pass,” beginning Saturday at 4 a.m. ET.
Ligety, who has a record four career wins at Soelden, is seeking his first World Cup victory since 2015, when he won the season-opening giant slalom in Soelden. Shiffrin, the two-time defending overall World Cup champion, will look to build upon last season’s six giant slalom podium finishes. In addition, Austrian skier Marcel Hirscher, who has won seven straight World Cup overall titles, is expected to compete in men’s giant slalom on Sunday.
The World Cup opener begins Saturday with three hours of live coverage of women’s giant slalom starting at 4 a.m. ET with the first run, followed by the second run at 7 a.m. ET. The men’s giant slalom first run begins on Sunday at 4 a.m. ET, with the second run at 7 a.m. ET.
