Larry David, Jeff Garlin, Bob Einstein & J.B. Smoove Featured Guests on ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Edition of ‘The Rich Eisen Podcast’ Thursday, July 7 at 10:00 PM ET
The latest edition of ‘The Rich Eisen Podcast’ on NFL Network airs on Thursday, July 7 at 10:00 PM ET and is available on NFL.com and iTunes following the television debut.
This week, with the eighth season of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm premiering Sunday, July 10 at 10:00 PM ET, Eisen hosts a special Curb edition of the podcast. Eisen sits down for a one-on-one interview with the show’s creator, executive producer and star Larry David, in which the two discuss a number of topics, including the New York Jets and the Prevent Defense.
Then Eisen does his best to control a roundtable discussion with David, executive producer and actor Jeff Garlin, and actors Bob Einstein (Marty Funkhouser) and J.B. Smoove (Leon Black), recounting the best moments from the previous 11 years of the Emmy Award-winning comedy, as well as offering a preview of what’s to come.
“The ‘Curb’ podcast is a perfect example of what this show is and can be,” Eisen said. “It provides a forum for guests that might not ordinarily be associated with NFL Network while creating a whole new type of programming for NFL Network. I couldn’t be more excited about planting this flag.”

Last week on ‘The Rich Eisen Podcast,’ Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Dhani Jones appeared in-studio to discuss a number of topics, among them being a correspondent for NFL Network, his new book The Sportsman: Unexpected Lessons From an Around-the-World Sports Odyssey detailing his journey to 20 different countries and the future of quarterback Carson Palmer.
Also on the podcast, actor Kevin James, calls in to discuss his new movie Zookeeper, his all-time favorite New York Jets players and his college football career at SUNY Cortland.
Grammy Award-winning musician John Legend appears on the podcast for the second time. Legend, currently on his 50-date summer tour with Sade, talks about the differences between performing live and in the studio, the prospect of headlining his own arena tour and returning for a second season of fantasy football after an impressive debut.
Quotes from last week’s edition of ‘The Rich Eisen Podcast’:
– “It’s something I’m passionate about. That’s essentially what everybody wants to find: something that they’re truly passionate about which truly allows them to find their way out of the garage.” – Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Dhani Jones on traveling the world in the offseason
– “I feel confident. As long as we don’t lose any receivers and [Mark] Sanchez is maturing, I really feel like it’s in our grasp and we can grab it at any time now.” – Kevin James on the chances of the New York Jets winning the Super Bowl
– “I prefer live just about to everything, because live you just get that interaction, you get that connection with the fans. I can actually sing more powerfully live than I do in the studio.” – John Legend on performing his songs live as opposed to in the studio
Former New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress In-Studio on NFL Total Access Thursday, July 7 at 7:00 PM ET
Former Super Bowl-winning wide receiver Plaxico Burress appears in-studio on NFL Total Access on Thursday, July 7 at 7:00 PM ET.
Burress will discuss his recent partnerships with the National Urban League and the Brady Center, as well as sit down for a one-on-one interview with host Fran Charles and take to the demo field.
On Tuesday, head coach of the BCS National Champion Auburn Tigers, Gene Chizik, appeared for an interview. Chizik spoke about how former Auburn quarterback and No. 1 overall pick of the Carolina Panthers Cam Newton will transition to the NFL, as well as his new book, All In: What It Takes to Be the Best.
Below is a video link and quotes from Chizik’s interview:
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-
– “This is a great football player. He’s got great character, he loves the game. I don’t know that I’ve really been around any player in my 20-some odd years of doing this that’s a more competitive football player than Cam Newton.” – Gene Chizik on former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton
– “The thing that I was really trying to impart to people is that this is a guy that was in a system that required him to do the same exact things he’s going to have to do in the NFL. … He has been schooled in the past year by [Auburn offensive coordinator] Gus Malzahn in an offense that is really no different than any NFL offense.” – Gene Chizik on Cam Newton’s transition from college to the NFL
– “One thing that he will be is he will be a leader of the team. It will be important for him to be the leader of the team, and I think guys will rally around. What else could you ask for other than that at the quarterback position.” – Gene Chizik on Cam Newton’s role with the Carolina Panthers

First-Place Cleveland Gladiators Travel to Face the Philadelphia Soul on “Arena Football Friday” on Friday, July 8 at 8:00 PM ET
The East Division-leading Cleveland Gladiators (9-6) look to extend their two-game winning streak against division foe Philadelphia Soul (5-11) on NFL Network’s “Arena Football Friday” on Friday, July 8 at 8:00 PM ET. Paul Burmeister provides the play-by-play and Michael Lombardi serves as game analyst. Anthony Herron provides reports from the sidelines of Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
After missing the playoffs last season, the Gladiators look to increase their lead atop the East Division in the American Conference. Cleveland enters the game riding a two-game winning streak and winners of three of its last four games. Last week, the Gladiators defeated the Milwaukee Mustangs 62-58 on the strength of quarterback Kurt Rocco’s seven touchdowns.
Meanwhile, the Soul aim to halt a four-game losing streak. Last week, Philadelphia fell to the Dallas Vigilantes on the road, 58-41.
Cleveland is making its first of two appearances on NFL Network this season; next week, the Gladiators host the Pittsburgh Power. Philadelphia is making its final of five appearances on “Arena Football Friday” this season. In their previous four games on NFL Network, the Soul are 1-3, with their lone win against the Pittsburgh Power (58-52, March 11) and losses to the Chicago Rush (62-28, March 18), Tampa Bay Storm (51-48, April 15) and Spokane Shock (75-54, June 10).
Last week on “Arena Football Friday,” the Orlando Predators overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat the Pittsburgh Power, 62-54, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The loss dropped the Power out of first place in the East Division of the American Conference and kept the Predators’ playoff hopes alive. Orlando quarterback Collin Drafts threw five touchdowns while Pittsburgh quarterback Bernard Morris threw seven touchdowns.
