MCCARVER: WORLD SERIES HERO USUALLY COMES FROM UNSUSPECTING INDIVIDUAL – Calling his record 23rd World Series tonight on FOX (7:30 PM ET), Ford C. Frick Award-winning analyst Tim McCarver talked to Fox Sports Radio’s Dan Patrick show earlier today about postseason breakthrough performers. “Usually in a World Series, somebody comes out of nowhere, like Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro did in the National League Championship Series,” said McCarver. “Omar Infante is a guy who perhaps can do that in the World Series, and maybe a guy like Brandon Crawford for the Giants; somebody that you don’t expect to be there, and that happens quite often.”

DAVIS: TOP-3 HEISMAN CANDIDATES: COLLIN KLEIN, COLLIN KLEIN & COLLIN KLEIN – Last week FOX Sports was in West Virginia to witness K-State QB Collin Klein’s virtuoso performance in the Wildcats destruction of the West Virginia Mountaineers. CFB on FOX lead analyst Charles Davis has been so impressed by Klein that he sees no one close to him the in the Heisman race. “After the performance I saw last week in Morgantown, West Virginia by Kansas State QB Collin Klein, he occupies the spots: one, two and three on my board,” said Davis. “No. 1; 19-21 throwing the ball, his first 300-yard game in his career and three touchdowns. No. 2; he ran for four touchdowns in that game and continues to be a dynamic force when he does that and finally, he’s a winner. He’s 18-4 as starting quarterback at Kansas State.”.

LYNCH: PHILLY OFFENSE NEEDS SUCCESSFUL RUNNING GAME – NFL on FOX analyst John Lynch is calling Atlanta Falcons at Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday on FOX and when talking about the Eagles offense, Lynch believes it’s not only the turnovers that are troublesome for the Eagles. “A lot of it is a function of the offensive line and their struggles. At times, the Eagles need eight-man protections to keep Michael Vick alive off play action. And it’s not as if they’re calling play action because they’ve been running it so effectively. These eight-man protections only leave two-man wide receiver routes and are usually met with four defensive players in the backfield,” said Lynch. The answer for the Eagles offense is not only the offensive line but successfully utilizing their running back LeSean McCoy. “LeSean McCoy is the guy they need to feed the ball to more and he’s got a great compliment in the back field in rookie running back Bryce Brown. If calling play action is going to work for the Eagles, their running game needs to be respected.”
