Former Auburn coach to host on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, channel 91
NEW YORK – July 18, 2013 – Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) today announced that former Auburn University football coach Gene Chizik, who guided the Tigers to victory in the 2011 BCS National Championship game, has joined SiriusXM as an analyst on its 24/7 college sports channel.
Chizik will host multiple shows each week on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, channel 91. He’ll make his debut on Tuesday, July 23, hosting SiriusXM’s College Sports Today (3:00-6:00 pm ET) with Mark Packer.
“SiriusXM College Sports Nation is a tremendous source of information for college football fans and I’m excited to be a part of it,” said Chizik. “We’ve got a lot to talk about with the season approaching, from the standout teams and players to watch to realignment and the college football playoffs.”
Chizik coached the Auburn Tigers from 2009 to 2012. He guided the team to 30 wins in his first three seasons at Auburn, the most for any coach in the school’s history. In 2010, he led Auburn to a perfect 14-0 season and a victory in the BCS National Championship game, giving Auburn their second national championship and earning Chizik multiple “Coach of the Year” awards. Prior to Auburn, Chizik was head coach at Iowa State University. From 2005 to 2006 he was the assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator at the University of Texas and helped coach the Longhorns to the 2005 national title. He also previously served as the defensive coordinator at Auburn (2002-2004) and the University of Central Florida (1998-2001). In the 2004 and 2005 seasons, Coach Chizik was undefeated as a defensive coordinator at Auburn and Texas, respectively.
