FOX AUTO RACING CHALLENGE 2010
New Weekly Game Allows Users to Jump In and Out of NASCAR Fantasy Season
New York, NY — FOXSports.com on MSN, one of the world’s most popular sports web sites, has partnered with OPEN Sports Network to unveil a new and exciting NASCAR fantasy game designed to allow fans to get into and out of the action at any point during the season without missing a beat.
FOX Auto Racing Challenge 2010’s unique week-to-week format gives users looking to participate in a racing fantasy league the freedom of not having to manage one team over NASCAR’s 10-month season. Fans can jump into and out of the action at any point during the NASCAR season without any disadvantage. The system gives all users an equal chance to win each race.
At the start of each week, players are challenged to create a team made up of five drivers, including one captain, while staying within a salary cap. Each driver is assigned a dollar value based off performance during the season and history at each track. Players have $100 fantasy dollars to spend on their team. For this year’s Daytona 500, Jimmie Johnson is the most expensive driver valued at $37 while 2009 Daytona 500 champion Matt Kenseth is valued at $20.
Each finishing position is assigned a point total with the captain earning “double points” for their team. Drivers can earn extra points for accomplishments during the race including laps led and position improved. After every race, the player with the most total points is declared the winner. Before the next race, rosters and points are cleared as new dollar values are assigned to the drivers. The active fantasy players for the next race pick from the pool of qualified drivers and set their lineups for another exciting challenge.
FOXSports.com drops the green flag on FOX Auto Racing Challenge 2010 on Sunday, Feb. 14 with the Daytona 500 on FOX. Registration is open now and users have the choice to play head-to-head, with a group of invited friends or join a public group. The game is 100% free, but a pay-to-play version of the game will be available later in the season.
