FOX SPORTS TRAVELS TO MIDWEST FOR FULL WEEKEND OF NASCAR XFINITY SERIES & NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES RACING
While the NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES takes a rare weekend off, the NASCAR XFINITY SERIES and NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES head back to the Midwest for the second consecutive weekend. FOX Sports offers live coverage of the NASCAR XFINITY SERIES and companion ARCA RACING SERIES from Chicagoland Speedway, in addition to the NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES from Iowa Speedway.
The NASCAR XFINITY SERIES closes out its portion of the 2015 season on FOX Sports from Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday beginning at 9:30 PM ET. Chris Buescher extended his series points lead over Ty Dillon last week at Michigan to 25, followed by defending champion Chase Elliott (-35), Regan Smith (-55) and Darrell Wallace Jr. (-61) after 13 races. Following the conclusion of its 2015 coverage, FOX Sports returns with its presentation of the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY SERIES season with the season opener from Daytona.
NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES points leader and two-time defending champion Matt Crafton continues his quest for a third-consecutive championship this weekend from Iowa Speedway, but saw his sizeable points lead cut in half last week at Gateway Motorsports Park following an accident. FOX Sports 1 is live under the lights on Friday, June 19 (8:30 PM ET) in the series’ ninth stop of the season. Heading into Iowa, Crafton leads Tyler Reddick (-12), followed by Johnny Sauter (-30), Erik Jones (-33) and John Wes Townley (-69) after eight races. Seventeen-year-old Cole Custer won last week’s race in only his third start of the season, becoming the second teenager to win a Truck Series race in 2015 (Tyler Reddick – 19; two wins).
Through eight races this season, the NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES (NCWTS) is averaging 871,000 viewers on FOX Sports 1, up nine percent over the average during the same time last season (797,000 viewers through seven races), according to Nielsen Media Research. The NCWTS is up 16% on HH rating (0.79 vs. 0.68) this season, and of the seven races aired both in 2014 and 2015, five delivered more viewers this year than in 2014 (Daytona, Martinsville, Kansas, Dover and Texas).
Note: The NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES enjoys a weekend off before returning Sunday, June 28 at Sonoma Raceway (3:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 1; pre-race coverage at 2:00 PM ET on NASCAR RACEDAY) for FOX Sports’ final NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES race of 2015.

ANALYST RAY DUNLAP ON WHERE A THIRD CONSECUTIVE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR MATT CRAFTON WOULD RANK IN NASCAR HISTORY:
“To win three consecutive championships amidst this level of competition would be incredibly significant. I would place it up there with Jimmie Johnson winning five Cup Series championships in a row. If Crafton could pull it off, it would completely rewrite the definition of the significance of a championship in this series. There’s a lot of racing to go this season, but based on how fast the No. 88 team has been, you have to count them as the favorite to repeat.”
OF TRUCK SERIES “YOUNG GUNS” SUCH AS COLE CUSTER, JOHN HUNTER NEMECHEK, SPENCER GALLAGHER AND TYLER REDDICK, REPORTER HERMIE SADLER SAYS NEMECHEK STANDS OUT AS NEXT STAR:
“John Hunter Nemechek has displayed a world of talent, not just in his limited number of Truck starts, but also in his Late Model. Compared to other young guns’ teams, Nemechek’s is a small team, so it’s remarkable he has been able to elevate that group into a solid, top-10, sometimes top-five team. We must look beyond the results to the support, equipment and technology behind these drivers. In a short amount of time, John Hunter has proven he can run as well as, if not better than, his veteran father in the same equipment and has elevated that organization. The team never takes a step back when he’s in the seat, despite his young age and lack of experience.”
ADAM ALEXANDER PUTS A POSSIBLE THIRD-CONSECUTIVE TITLE FOR MATT CRAFTON INTO PERSPECTIVE:
“If I was a betting man, at this stage in the season my money would be on Matt Crafton because he is so incredibly consistent. When you look at the greats who have graced the Truck Series over the years, Crafton ranks near the top. Three championships in a row would truly be the most remarkable run we’ve seen in the history of the series.”
