WITH HEAVY HEARTS, NASCAR ROLLS INTO RICHMOND FOR FULL WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTED BY TOYOTA OWNERS 400 SATURDAY UNDER THE LIGHTS ON FOX
With the passing of longtime FOX NASCAR broadcaster Steve Byrnes on Tuesday, the NASCAR community gathers in Richmond this weekend, just one week removed from an amazing showing of support for Byrnes at Bristol Motor Speedway, returning to the business of racing he represented so well for more than 30 years. Of note, Saturday’s TOYOTA OWNERS 400 originally was scheduled to air on FOX Sports 1, but now airs on the FOX broadcast network after an early season schedule change.
FOX Sports offers 19 hours of live NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES and NASCAR XFINITY SERIES coverage from Richmond International Raceway, culminating with the NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES race live on FOX on Saturday, April 25 (6:30 PM ET), with pre-race coverage beginning at 6:00 PM ET.
Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag last week at Bristol for his first victory of the season. Defending champion Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano likely have locked up spots in the NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup via wins in the season’s eight opening races.
2012 champ Keselowski serves as race analyst for FOX Sports 1’s NASCAR XFINITY SERIES race coverage on Friday, April 24 (7:30 PM ET). Keselowski is one of five NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES drivers announced as part of a rotation in the FOX and FOX Sports 1 booth for FOX Sports’ coverage of the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY SERIES season. Also scheduled as guest analysts this season are Jeff Gordon, Harvick, Clint Bowyer and Danica Patrick. This season, FOX Sports adds coverage of the NASCAR XFINITY SERIES for the first 14 races of the year. FOX Sports 1 telecasts 10 of the events, while FOX broadcasts the races from Phoenix, Talladega, Charlotte and Dover.
In the NASCAR XFINITY SERIES, Chris Buescher and Ty Dillon are tied for the points lead, followed by defending champion Chase Elliott (-12), Darrell Wallace Jr. (-22) and Ryan Reed (-38) after seven races. At Richmond, FOX Sports’ coverage of the NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES and NASCAR XFINITY SERIES on-track sessions begins with Cup Series practice on Friday, April 24 (11:00 AM ET).
