Petros Papadakis on the Big Ten Conference: “The Big Ten is better than the ACC right now”
Clay Travis on Heisman Hopeful AJ McCarron: “He’s no Johnny Manziel”
Analyst Clay Travis on whether or not Auburn has enough firepower to beat Alabama today: “To me, the real question is can they stop Alabama? I think the answer is no. Everybody is focusing on different sides of this equation. To me, AJ McCarron is going to come out and be unleashed. When Alabama needs AJ McCarron to make plays, suddenly this guy comes out and he’s going to play other worldly.”
Analyst Petros Papadakis adds his thoughts on the matchup: “That’s a piece of it. But this is a game that’s going to be won at the line of scrimmage. I think Gus Malzahn understands that and he knows that about his team. He’s done a great job all year of disguising how one-dimensional this Auburn offense really is. Alabama’s culture is stopping the run. That’s who they are, not just this year, that is who Nick Saban is. Auburn does have a little magic, but it’s going to be hard for them. There’s got to be some pressure coming down on Saban’s team, this game starts out close, but it’s going to be hard for Auburn.”
Host Erin Andrews on Alabama feeling the pressure: “Alabama is groomed for the pressure, it’s all about the process. Auburn, I think they are too young right now to handle something like this.”
Papadakis, former USC captain, on the UCLA-USC rivalry game: “UCLA, in this situation, is trying to prove that they’re not going to sputter down the stretch like they did last year. They need to find their mojo again, but it’s going to be hard for them because Brett Hundley has not performed well recently, especially against Arizona State. He’s slow making decisions, he’s slow to throw it, and he’s slow to take off. USC is playing at a very high level offensively, and they have one of the most positive stories in college football right now. A lot of momentum. I like USC to physically beat them up.”
Papadakis on stacking up Ohio State and Florida State: “I think Ohio State has stepped up above Florida State. Florida is not going to help anybody, and then the ACC is not going to help Florida State and the Jameis Winston situation is out there, too. You look at the Big Ten and what they’ve done, and they’ve become better than the ACC. The Big Ten is better than the ACC right now, it happened quietly. Florida State is in trouble.”
Papadakis on Johnny Manziel and the Texas A&M-Missouri game: “I think Texas A&M has been stripped down to what they really are, which is a one man football team. At this point of the season, all they have is Johnny Manziel. Mizzou has got guys, they are a more complete football team. Mizzou is going to beat up A&M today, it’s over for Johnny. A&M has got nothing left.”
Travis offers his thoughts on Manziel: “His defense is just awful. Let’s just be honest, Johnny Manziel can’t play defensive back, which by the way is where Mack Brown recruited him for. If he could play both ways right now, maybe they could actually make some plays to get Missouri off the field.”
Travis on Heisman hopeful AJ McCarron: “AJ is a very good player. I think most people who are SEC fans and are living in the south watching college football believe something very simple: He’s no Johnny Manziel. And he’s actually in the shadow of Johnny Manziel.”
Analyst Mike Pereira says Heisman voters should be embarrassed: “To me, I’m not saying this should be a lifetime achievement award but for us non-voters, for what we has done there and if actually wins three national championships and doesn’t win the award, I think the Heisman voters ought to be a little embarrassed.”
Papadakis weighs in on McCarron’s stock: “AJ McCarron is a great quarterback in a great system. But he is not transcendent of Nick Saban’s process. Don’t send him to New York and just have him sit there, send CJ Mosley.”
Papadakis on Nebraska coach Bo Pelini: “Let’s face it, he doesn’t like being there and it’s clear. He’s being defiant. That’s not the attitude you want from a guy who’s leading your football program.”
Analyst Eddie George and former Ohio State Heisman winner on the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry: “It’s not a game, it’s personal.”
