August Game Schedule to Include 2011 Postseason Rematches and Six In-Division Matchups
MLB Network to Air Delta Civil Rights Game Between Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves on August 18
Secaucus, N.J., July 26, 2012 – Three MLB Network Showcase games feature four of MLB’s division leaders in MLB Network’s live game schedule for August 1-18. The first MLB Network Showcase game in August features Ryan Howard and the Philadelphia Phillies against Bryce Harper and the NL East-leading Washington Nationals on Thursday, August 2 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Two division leaders square off on Tuesday, August 7 at 7:00 p.m. ET when Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees play MLB’s RBI leader Miguel Cabrera and the Detroit Tigers in a rematch of last year’s ALDS, the first of three rematches from the 2011 MLB Postseason on MLB Network in August. The third MLB Network Showcase game on the schedule features Josh Hamilton and the Texas Rangers against the Yankees on Tuesday, August 14 at 7:00 p.m. ET. MLB Network’s Matt Vasgersian and Jim Kaat will call the action for all three games with Sam Ryan serving as the on-field reporter for the August 2 and August 14 games.
Two more rematches from the 2011 MLB Postseason are on the schedule as World Series MVP David Freese and the St. Louis Cardinals travel to Philadelphia for the first time since last season’s NLDS to take on the Phillies on Friday, August 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The next day, the defending AL champion Rangers play host to the Tigers on Saturday, August 11 at 8:30 p.m. ET in a rematch of the 2011 ALCS.
In a change to the previously announced July game schedule, MLB Network will now air an AL West showdown between Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Rangers this Tuesday, July 31 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The remainder of the game schedule features six games between in-division rivals, including Asdrubal Cabrera and the Cleveland Indians visiting the AL Central first-place Tigers on Friday, August 3 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The next night, Andrew McCutchen, who leads MLB with a .369 batting average, and the second-place Pittsburgh Pirates face Brandon Phillips and the NL Central-leading Cincinnati Reds at 7:00 p.m. ET. On Friday, August 17 at 7:00 p.m. ET, Dustin Pedroia and the Boston Red Sox renew their rivalry with the Yankees when the two teams meet at Yankee Stadium for the second time this season.
MLB Network will also air the national telecast of the sixth annual Delta Civil Rights Game on Saturday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game, which is designed to pay tribute to all of those who fought on and off the field for equal rights for all Americans, will feature Matt Kemp and the Los Angeles Dodgers visiting Michael Bourn and the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.

Games will be blacked out in each team’s home television territory unless otherwise announced. Viewers in areas subject to blackouts will be provided with an alternate game telecast or other programming.
