TONIGHT on NFL Turning Point (10 p.m. ET on VERSUS): Falcons-Texans; Packers remain undefeated against Giants; Tebow leads Broncos past Vikings
NBC SportsTalk Focuses on NFL Each Monday and Friday at 6 p.m. ET on VERSUS
NEW YORK – December 7, 2011 – Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys (7-5) host Eli Manning and the New York Giants (6-6) in a battle for first place in the NFC East on Sunday Night Football.
Calling Giants-Cowboys will be six-time Emmy Award-winner Al Michaels (play-by-play), in his 26th season as the voice of the NFL’s premier primetime package; 12-time Emmy Award-winner Collinsworth, who won the Emmy for outstanding event analyst in both of his seasons in the Sunday Night Football booth; and sideline reporter Michele Tafoya, in her first season on SNF.
Coverage begins Sunday with Football Night in America at 7 p.m. ET with 22-time Emmy Award-winner Bob Costas hosting the program live from inside Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Costas is joined on site by Michaels and Collinsworth for reaction to the afternoon games.
Dan Patrick co-hosts Football Night from Studio 8G at NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Plaza studios and is joined by Super Bowl-winning head coach Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison, Peter King of Sports Illustrated and Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk on NBCSports.com. Alex Flanagan will report from Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, Colo., on the Bears-Broncos game.
DUNGY AND HARRISON BREAK DOWN GIANTS-COWBOYS:
Dungy: “This game is going to hinge on which quarterback plays the best, but these Cowboys receivers are tough matchups. I like the big receivers of the Cowboys. I think they can get going against the Giant’s secondary.”
Harrison: “Even though the Giants lost to the Green Bay Packers, they gained a lot of confidence. They felt like they should’ve beat the best team in football.”
Dungy: “Dallas has an edge right now, they’ve got a one game lead. All they have to do is win one of these games against the Giants. But if they lose this one at home, there will be a ton of pressure going to New York at the end of the year. I think this is a must win for Dallas.”
Harrison: “The Cowboys took the pressure off Romo then but it back on Romo. They used to run the ball and now they’re trying pass the ball.”
Dungy: “But they feel like Tony’s their best player.”
Harrison: “No, you have to get back to the formula that gave you success earlier on in the year and that was running the football.”
