@ESPNTennis: WTA Finals Begin This Weekend from Singapore on ESPN3

ESPN3 has daily coverage of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals from Singapore with the championship live on ESPN2 on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 5:30 a.m. The seed for the elite eight is Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza, Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova, Agnieszka Radwanska, Angelique Kerber, Flavia Pennetta and Lucie Safarova. The players will be split into the Red and White groups for two four-person round robins right before the start of the tournament. Serena Williams also qualified and has clinched the No.1 title for the end of the year, but has withdrawn from play for the remainder of the season. Sam Gore, Tracy Austin and Katrina Adams will call the action for the championship.

All players play three round-robin matches against players in their group to determine a winner and runner-up from each group, who then advance to the knockout stage of the tournament. The winner of the White Group plays the runner-up of the Red Group, and vice versa in the semifinals, with the winners advancing to the Championship.  All matches are best-of-three sets.  ESPN3’s coverage will also include the doubles events with action of world No.1 doubles team Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza. Mirza is the doubles defending champion, joined by two-time singles champion Martina Hingis making her seventh WTA Finals appearance in her Hall of Fame career.
