SportsCenter will be On-site for All Six New Year’s Bowls; Plus SEC Network in Dallas
ESPN’s exclusive telecast of the College Football Playoff brings around-the-clock studio coverage starting Monday, Dec. 28, from dueling sets at the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl in Miami Gardens, Fla., and the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic in Arlington, Texas. The sets located at South Beach in Miami and from inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington begin the network’s coverage, which also includes reporting from the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta, BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix, the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern in Pasadena, Calif., and the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
SportsCenter will have an anchor and be present at all New Year’s Six games, while SEC Network will be onsite providing pre- and post-game coverage for Alabama’s eighth Cotton Bowl appearance.
New Year’s Eve Highlights
- A set will be live from South Beach in Miami, beginning Monday, Dec. 28 and concluding with a special edition of College GameDay Built by The Home Depot on Thursday, Dec. 31 (9 a.m.-noon ET)
- Host Rece Davis is joined all week by Lee Corso, Desmond Howard, David Pollack, Joey Galloway, Butch Davis and George Whitfield with Gene Wojciechowski contributing features and reports
- Samantha Ponder will cover Oklahoma, with Marty Smith reporting on Clemson
- Beginning with the 3:30 p.m. pregame show on game day, the set will be moved in stadium for pre-game, halftime and post-game coverage
- ESPN’s coverage at the Cotton Bowl will originate from inside AT&T Stadium
- Hosts John Saunders, Adnan Virk and Joe Tessitore are joined by Kirk Herbstreit, Mack Brown, Mark May, Danny Kanell and Tim Tebow
- Kaylee Hartung will report on Alabama, while Tom Rinaldi will cover Michigan State
- SportsCenter and halftime coverage from various bowl games that week originates from Dallas, plus live hits on College GameDay (Dec. 31)
New Year’s Day Highlights
- A special airing of Championship Drive (10 a.m.-1 pm.) from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena with R. Davis, Herbstreit, Howard and Pollack with Rinaldi and Wojciechowski contributing
- The Outback Bowl and Fiesta Bowl halftime segments, as well as Rose Bowl reporting, will all originate from Pasadena
- Halftime of the Sugar Bowl will be onsite in New Orleans with Tessitore and Tebow
- In addition to the official New Year’s six games, ESPN will have host Chris Cotter with Galloway and B. Davis onsite in Orlando for halftime of the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl showcasing a top-25 matchup between No. 14 Michigan vs. No. 19 Florida
SportsCenter Highlights
SportsCenter “On the Road” will have extensive coverage of the College Football Playoff semifinals and the New Year’s Six games beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 29.
- On Tuesday, Semifinals coverage will include SC anchor Sara Walsh live from Miami, while anchor Matt Barrie will offer coverage from Arlington
- Walsh and Barrie will be joined on Wednesday, respectively by anchors Robert Flores and Steve Levy, with Thursday’s midnight SC and the ensuing 1 a.m. show originating from Arlington with Scott Van Pelt (midnight) and Levy and John Buccigross (1 a.m.) anchoring live on the field
- Additionally, on Thursday and Friday, the following anchors will be live at these bowl games during the day: Randy Scott (Peach Bowl); Jade McCarthy and Zubin Mehenti (Fiesta Bowl); Cari Champion (Rose Bowl)
- Reporters Shannon Spake (Sugar Bowl) and Jeannine Edwards (Citrus Bowl) will also be on-site
SEC Network Highlights
SEC Now and SEC Nation will originate from Arlington, surrounding the game with expert SEC opinion and special guests on Wednesday, Dec. 30 and Thursday, Dec. 31. Additional details of SEC Network’s coverage will be announced this week.
- SEC Nation will air on game day from 10 a.m.-noon, and again an hour before kickoff at 7 p.m.
- SEC Now will provide the post-game coverage
