DIVISION LEADERS AND POSTSEASON CONTENDERS FEATURED IN MLB NETWORK’S LIVE GAME SCHEDULE FROM AUGUST 21-25
The NL Central-Leading Reds Host the Cardinals in MLB Network Showcase Game Called by Bob Costas and John Smoltz
Game Schedule Includes Four Division Leaders and Two Intra-Divisional Showdowns
Schedule Continues Lead Up to MLB Network’s First-Ever Exclusive Telecasts of Two Division Series Games This Postseason
Secaucus, N.J., August 16, 2012 – Four division leaders and several Postseason contenders are featured in MLB Network’s live games from August 21-25. The MLB Network Showcase game features the NL Central-leading Cincinnati Reds taking on NL RBI leader Carlos Beltran and the St. Louis Cardinals, who are currently tied for a Wild Card spot. Bob Costas and John Smoltz will call the action between the two division rivals on Friday, August 24 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
Next week’s game schedule also features another intra-divisional matchup as the Washington Nationals, owners of MLB’s best record, take on Chipper Jones and the Atlanta Braves, who sit 4.5 games behind the Nationals in the NL East, on Tuesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Viewers in select markets will see two AL division leaders battle as MLB’s co-home run leader Adam Dunn and the Chicago White Sox play host to Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees also on August 21 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Albert Pujols and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will visit Fenway Park to play Dustin Pedroia and the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Then, two of baseball’s best hitters meet on Saturday, August 25 at 7:00 p.m. ET as Miguel Cabrera, who leads MLB with 103 RBI’s, and the Detroit Tigers square off against Mike Trout, the AL’s leading hitter with a .340 batting average, and the Angels.
As previously announced, MLB Network will air the national telecast of the sixth annual Delta Civil Rights Game this Saturday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m. ET. The game, which is designed to pay tribute to all of those who fought on and off the field for equal rights for all Americans, will feature Matt Kemp and the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers visiting Michael Bourn and the Braves at Turner Field.
