Disney Channel, Disney Junior, ESPN and ESPNU Ranked in Top Ten Perceived Value among Viewers
In Beta Research Corp’s annual Cable Subscriber Study, cable and telco TV subscribers named Disney Junior (no. 1), ESPN (no. 2 overall and no. 1 major basic network), ESPNU (no. 4) and Disney Channel (no. 9) among the top ten perceived value among network viewers. The study marked 10 of the past 11 studies where ESPN was ranked no. 1 or no. 2.
19 percent of all respondents named ESPN among their Top Five Favorite etworks, statistically tying the network for first overall and ranking it in the top five for the past eleven years. ESPN was also ranked as the favorite network among adults 25-54, men 18+, men 18-34, men 18-49, men 18+ who are potential cord cutters and tied as the top network for viewer satisfaction. Among male viewers 18+, ESPN statistically tied as the no. 1 network for programming quality and importance to enjoyment of cable. Additionally, on perceived value among viewers, ESPNU ranked second (behind ESPN) among adults 18-49 and first for adults with children under 12. Disney Junior also ranked first among potential cord cutters.
Results from the June 2015 Beta Cable Subscriber Study were generated from an online survey across a national sample of cable TV and telco TV subscribers. The purpose of the study was to determine viewer satisfaction of basic cable networks, their importance to enjoyment of cable, their perceived value, the favorite basic networks, program quality of basic networks and a sampling of basic networks (percent viewing past 12 months).
