CHRIS “MAD DOG” RUSSO NAMES JOSH BERTACCINI THE WINNER OF “SO YOU THINK YOU CAN TALK SPORTS?” CONTEST ON SIRIUS XM
Bertaccini will host his own sports talk show on Mad Dog Radio this fall
NEW YORK – September 8, 2010 – SIRIUS XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) personality Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo, who headlines SIRIUS XM’s Mad Dog Radio sports talk channel, has selected Josh Bertaccini as the winner of the Mad Dog Radio ‘So You Think You Can Talk Sports?’ contest.
Russo made the announcement Tuesday, September 7, on his daily Mad Dog Radio show, Mad Dog Unleashed, heard every weekday (2:00-7:00 pm ET) on Mad Dog Radio (SIRIUS channel 123 and XM channel 144).
Bertaccini, a West Orange, NJ native who now lives in Aberdeen, South Dakota, will headline his own national Mad Dog Radio program, hosting eight three-hour shows on the channel this fall.
“Josh really distinguished himself throughout this contest and we’re excited to have him on the Mad Dog Radio team this fall,” said Russo. “He’s got a national audience waiting for him and he’ll be able to talk about anything and everything from the world of sports – NFL, college football, MLB, NBA, NHL, you name it.”
“Growing up, sports radio was always my dream career,” said Bertaccini. “I’ve always wondered what it would be like if I ever got to do it nationally and, thanks to SIRIUS XM and Mad Dog Radio, I’ll finally get that chance. It’ll be my first experience with a radio show on that level, talking sports with people all over the country. I truthfully couldn’t be any more excited about the opportunity.”
Bertaccini emerged as one of five semifinalists from nearly 600 contest entrants, and competed for the grand prize against Jim Murray (Wakefield, MA), Nick Vella (Denver, CO), Joe Pisano (Sugar Land, TX) and Lindsay Sullivan (Louisville, CO). Bertaccini currently hosts a sports talk show in South Dakota.
