NBC Sports Presents More Than 200 Hours of Figure Skating Coverage from October to April

STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 19, 2022 – Reigning world junior champion Ilia Malinin headlines NBC Sports’ coverage of 2022 Skate America this weekend, beginning Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:20 p.m. ET live on Peacock from Tenley E. Albright Performance Center in Norwood, Mass. The entire competition, including every skater in every discipline, can be streamed live on Peacock.

Live coverage of 2022 Skate America continues on NBC on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. ET and on USA Network at 8 p.m. ET. On Sunday, E! presents live coverage of Skate America at 2 p.m. ET.

Malinin, who won the 2022 World Junior Championships, along with Beijing Winter Olympian Cha Jun-Hwan (South Korea) and 2022 European Championships silver medalist Daniel Grassl (Italy) are expected to headline the men’s event. 2022 world champion and Beijing Olympic bronze medalist Kaori Sakamoto (Japan) highlights the women’s field. Reigning world junior champion Isabeau Levito leads a strong U.S. women’s contingent which also features 2021 U.S. silver medalist Amber Glenn and 2014 Sochi Olympic team bronze medalist Gracie Gold.

Reigning world pairs’ champions Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier are expected to headline the pairs’ competition against a young field featuring the U.S. team of Valentina Plazas and Maxamiliano Fernandez in their senior Grand Prix debut. The ice dance field is highlighted by three-time U.S. champions and reigning world bronze medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates and Beijing Olympians Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker, as well as Japan’s Daisuke Takahashi and Kana Muramoto, the former of whom won the men’s event in 2005, 2007, and 2010.

For all TV coverage this weekend (which is simulstreamed on Peacock), Terry Gannon handles play-by-play, joined by 1998 Nagano Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski, three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir, and three-time world medalist Kaitlyn Weaver. Andrea Joyce will be the on-site reporter.

In addition to competition coverage, Peacock will stream the Skate America Practice Cam live starting on Thursday, October 20 at 10 a.m. ET. The Skate America Practice Cam will continue throughout the weekend; full details are below.

NBC Sports and U.S. Figure Skating recently announced the schedule for the 2022-23 figure skating season, featuring more than 200 hours of coverage from October to April, including the 2023 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the ISU World Figure Skating Championships.

NBC Sports Presents More Than 175 Hours of Figure Skating Coverage from October to April

STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 20, 2021 – Three-time reigning world champion Nathan Chen headlines NBC Sports’ coverage of 2021 Guaranteed Rate Skate America this weekend, beginning Friday, Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. ET live on NBCSN and Peacock from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Three-time Grand Prix Final champion Chen, who has won Skate America in each of the last four years, along with 2018 Olympian Vincent Zhou, who finished second at last year’s Skate America, are expected to headline the men’s event, while 2021 U.S. silver medalist Amber Glenn will highlight the women’s  field for the Americans. Reigning world bronze medalist Aleksandra Trusova of Russia, who with multiple quad jumps is at the forefront of the women’s discipline in technical ability, will also compete in Las Vegas.

Reigning U.S. pairs’ champions Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier are expected to headline the pairs’ competition against a tough field that includes two of the world’s top teams, both from Russia. The ice dance field is highlighted by three-time world medalists Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue, who won last year’s Skate America, and two-time Olympians Madison Chock and Evan Bates.

For the NBC and NBCSN broadcasts this weekend, Terry Gannon handles play-by-play, joined by 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir. 2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Tanith White serves as the analyst on the ice dance competition and Andrea Joyce will be the on-site reporter.

Live coverage of Skate America, which kicks off the 2021 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, continues on NBCSN on Saturday, Oct. 23 at 5:30 p.m. ET and 10 p.m. ET. On Sunday, NBC presents live coverage of Skate America at 3 p.m. ET. The entire competition, including every skater in every discipline, can be streamed live on Peacock.

In addition to competition coverage, Peacock will stream the Skate America Practice Cam live starting on Thursday, October 21st at 1 p.m. ET. The Skate America Practice Cam will continue throughout the weekend, full details below.

NBC Sports and U.S. Figure Skating recently announced the broadcast schedule for the 2021-22 figure skating season, featuring more than 175 hours of coverage from October to April, in addition to NBCUniversal’s coverage of the 2022 Winter Olympics in February.

NBC Sports and U.S. Figure Skating are in the midst of a long-term media rights agreement that will run through 2026.

NBC Sports Presents More Than 20 Hours of Figure Skating Coverage Between October and End of Year

STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 21, 2020 – Two-time reigning world champion Nathan Chen headlines NBC Sports’ coverage of 2020 Guaranteed Rate Skate America this weekend, beginning Friday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. ET live on NBCSN from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Three-time Grand Prix Final champion Chen, who has won Skate America in each of the last three years, along with 2018 Olympian Vincent Zhou, are expected to headline the men’s event, while 2018 U.S. champion Bradie Tennell, 2017 U.S. Champion Karen Chen and 2020 U.S. silver medalist Mariah Bell will highlight the ladies’ field. Two-time U.S. champion and 2014 Olympian Gracie Gold is also expected to compete.

In the ice dance event, two-time U.S. champions Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue and two-time U.S. bronze medalists Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker are expected to be the headliners. 2020 U.S. silver medalists Jessica Calalang and Brian Johnson, 2019 U.S. champions Ashley Cain-Gribble and Timothy LeDuc, and newly-formed duo Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier, who were both U.S. champions with their previous partners, are expected to compete in the pairs’ competition.

Live coverage of Skate America, which kicks off the 2020 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, continues on NBC on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 3 p.m. ET and concludes in primetime later that night at 9 p.m. ET on NBCSN. The entire competition, including every skater in every discipline, can be streamed live on Peacock Premium.

NBC Sports and U.S. Figure Skating last week announced the broadcast schedule for the 2020 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, featuring more than 20 hours of coverage between October and the end of the year.

This year’s Skate America serves as a preview of January’s U.S. Championships, as the 2020 event primarily features Americans rather than international athletes due to travel restrictions and safety precautions.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 16, 2019 – Two-time reigning world champion Nathan Chen headlines NBC Sports’ coverage of Skate America Presented by American Cruise Lines this week, beginning Friday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Gold from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Leading into this weekend’s coverage, NBC Sports presents the first free trial of NBC Sports Gold’s “Figure Skating Pass,” from today through Saturday, Oct. 19.

Skate America Presented by American Cruise Lines kicks off the 2019 Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Two-time Grand Prix Final champion Chen is expected to headline the men’s event, while 2018 U.S. champion Bradie Tennell and 2017 U.S. champion Karen Chen will compete in a ladies’ field that also includes two world medalists. Reigning U.S. champions and two-time world medalists Madison Hubbell and Zach Donohue are the top names in the ice dance event.

Terry Gannon handles play-by-play responsibilities for the men’s and ladies’ events, joined by 1998 Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski, three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir and reporter Andrea Joyce. Gannon and 2006 Olympic silver medalist Tanith White call the action for the ice dance segments, while White, Weir and Lipinski commentate on the pairs’ events.

NBCSN’s coverage begins on Friday, Oct. 18 at Midnight ET and continues Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. ET and Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 a.m. ET. NBC presents coverage of Skate America Presented by American Cruise Lines on Sunday at Noon ET.

SPORT CLIMBING WORLD CUP – XIAMEN, CHINA

The 2019 sport climbing World Cup continues with lead and speed events in Xiamen, China. Sports climbing will make its Olympic debut next summer in Tokyo, where the competition will feature a combination of all three disciplines: bouldering, speed and lead. Nathaniel Coleman, Kyra Condie and Ashima Shiraishi are all expected to compete in both events for the Americans.

CYCLO-CROSS WORLD CUP – BERN, SWITZERLAND

The Cyclo-cross World Cup season continues with the first European stop of the tour, in Bern, Switzerland. Cyclo-cross, a non-Olympic discipline, combines cycling, steeplechase and NASCAR all into one, with athletes racing around a circuit course with steep hills, difficult descents, mud, grass, sand and dirt. Clara Honsinger has been the top American through two events this season.
