ESPN+, ESPN Combine to Carry 40 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018 Games Starting Saturday

ESPN+ and ESPN will combine to carry 40 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018 games starting this Saturday, Sept. 22, with eight games. The event will culminate with the Championship Game on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 3 p.m. on ESPN and the ESPN App. The majority of the event’s games will be available exclusively on ESPN+, the premium direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from The Walt Disney Company Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI) group and ESPN. The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2018 event will emanate from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

ESPN2 to Televise FIBA EuroBasket 2015 Final Live on Sunday

ESPN2 will televise the FIBA EuroBasket 2015 Final, live this Sunday, September 20, at 1 p.m. ET. Spain will play the winner of Friday’s Serbia vs. Lithuania contest  in the decisive game, which will emanate from Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille, France. Play-by-play voice Kevin Connors and analyst Fran Fraschilla will provide commentary. The FIBA EuroBasket 2015 Final will also be available via WatchESPN.

Additionally, ESPN3 will carry the FIBA EuroBasket 2015 Bronze Medal Game prior to the Final, at 8 a.m. and it will also be available via WatchESPN. France will square off with whichever team does not advance to the Final between Serbia and Lithuania.

2015 FIBA Americas Live on ESPN Deportes

ESPN Deportes offers exclusive coverage of 2015 FIBA Americas, one of the most promising tournaments of the association with two guaranteed spots for Rio 2016. The live multiplatform coverage continues today, Sept. 2 at 9:20 p.m. ET, when Mexico faces Brazil.

The 10-team biennial tournament is split into two groups and two rounds: Group A (Canada, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina and Venezuela) is part of the second round, starting Sunday, Sept. 6 at 9:20 p.m. ET. The first round is led by Group B (Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, Brazil and Uruguay).

ESPN Deportes TV dedicates most of its primetime windows to the live telecast of selected games, including the semifinals and the Final on Sept. 12 at 9:20 p.m. ET. The network’s basketball experts Pablo Viruega, Georgina Ruiz Sandoval, Roberto Abramowitz and Jerry Olaya will call the games. ESPN will also televise the Final with commentary by analysts Fran Fraschilla and Kevin Connors.

ESPN Networks Combine to Carry Every Game of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup

ESPN networks will combine to carry every game of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain beginning Saturday, August 30, and continuing through Sunday, September 14. ESPN and ESPN2 will televise 13 games, including every USA Basketball Men’s National Team game, as well as the Semifinals, Finals and select Quarterfinal games. Analyst and international basketball expert Fran Fraschilla will provide analysis for all games on ESPN and ESPN2, while Kevin Connors and Marc Kestecher will rotate on play-by-play assignments.

Every game of the FIBA Basketball World Cup will be available on WatchESPN including 63 games on ESPN3 from the FIBA world feed. NBA TV to Televise FIBA Americas and EuroBasket Championships

NBA TV will televise the quarterfinals, semifinals and gold medal game of both the FIBA Americas and EuroBasket championships.  The network’s coverage of the FIBA Americas taking place in Caracas, Venezuela, will begin with a quarterfinals doubleheader Thursday, Sept. 5, at 5:20 p.m. ET and will conclude with the gold medal game televised Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m.  NBA TV’s FIBA EuroBasket coverage from Slovenia will tip off with the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Sept. 18, beginning at 11:30 a.m. and will culminate with the gold medal game airing Monday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m.

The top four teams from the FIBA Americas Championship and the top six teams from the FIBA EuroBasket will advance to participate in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

NBA players slated to compete in the FIBA Americas include), Al Horford (Dominican Republic/Atlanta Hawks), rookie Kelly Olynyk (Canada/Boston Celtics) and Luis Scola (Argentina/Indiana Pacers).  FIBA EuroBasket rosters are expected to include Nicolas Batum (France/Portland Trail Blazers), Jose Calderon (Spain/Dallas Mavericks), Goran Dragic (Slovenia/Phoenix Suns), Marc Gasol (Spain/Memphis Grizzlies), Marcin Gortat (Poland/Phoenix Suns), Tony Parker (France/San Antonio Spurs), Ricky Rubio (Spain/Minnesota Timberwolves) and Jonas Valanciunas (Lithuania/Toronto Raptors).

ESPN and FIBA Sign Multiyear, Multiplatform Rights Agreement

ESPN Networks to Present FIBA Basketball World Cup, FIBA World Championship for Women, FIBA Americas Championships & EuroBaskets 2013-15

FIBA and ESPN today announced a multiyear multiplatform (TV, Internet and mobile) agreement, which includes the rights to more than 400 games across six tournaments from 2013-2015.  The agreement covers the FIBA Americas Championships (2013, 2015), the EuroBaskets (2013, 2015), the FIBA Basketball World Cup (2014) and the FIBA World Championship for Women (2014).

“ESPN’s commitment to International basketball continues to intensify as the sport’s global popularity soars,” said Leah LaPlaca, vice-president, programming and acquisitions. “This agreement expands our year-round basketball presence while serving the passionate and growing Spanish-speaking audience in the US.”
FIBA Secretary General Patrick Baumann said: “Following a great collaboration over the past three years, we are delighted to announce that ESPN have once again decided to partner with us and our events, including the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup which is set to be the biggest basketball event of all time.″

“International basketball is as exciting as sport gets and it is great that the US audience can continue to follow our competitions thanks to a coverage that is second to none,” he added.

ESPN’s television rights will result in telecasts in both English and Spanish, extending throughout the United States and its territories, excluding Puerto Rico. Overall, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN Deportes will combine to televise every game. All Team USA and Gold Medal Games will air live on ESPN or ESPN2, and ESPN Deportes.

ESPN previously aired the FIBA Americas Championships and EuroBaskets in 2009 and 2011 and the FIBA World Championships in 2010.
