The Rundown to Air Live One Hour Earlier at 2:00 p.m. ET Starting Tuesday, May 29
Secaucus, N.J., May 22, 2012 – Fifteen Interleague Play matchups will be featured during MLB Network’s live game schedule from Monday, June 4 through Saturday, June 30, including games with every division leader in action.
The schedule features Bob Costas and Jim Kaat calling MLB Network Showcase games on consecutive days, starting with an AL East showdown between the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees on Thursday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m. ET live from Yankee Stadium, followed by the New York Mets, who are led by David Wright’s MLB-leading .415 batting average, visiting Derek Jeter, who has a .381 lifetime average against the Mets, and the crosstown rivals Yankees on Friday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
The action continues when Bryce Harper and the Washington Nationals host the Yankees on Friday, June 15 at 7:00 p.m. ET with Matt Vasgersian and John Smoltz calling the game. Costas and Kaat will call Interleague Play at Fenway Park when the Boston Red Sox match up against the Miami Marlins, who hold the NL’s best all-time Interleague record at 137-118 (.537), on Thursday, June 21 at 7:00 p.m. ET. Led by outfielder Josh Hamilton’s 18 home runs and 47 RBI’S, the Texas Rangers will take on the Detroit Tigers’ powerful combination of Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera on Tuesday, June 26 at 8:00 p.m. ET with Vasgersian and Smoltz calling the game live from Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Sam Ryan will report from three of the five MLB Network Showcase games, with Tom Verducci serving as the on-field reporter on June 7 and June 21.
The remainder of the schedule features the NL West first-place Los Angeles Dodgers hosting the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday, June 12 at 10:00 p.m. ET, plus four Saturday afternoon games, including the Kansas City Royals battling the NL Central first-place St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday, June 23 at 1:00 p.m. ET. During the last week of June, MLB Network will feature the AL Central first-place Cleveland Indians visiting the AL East first-place Baltimore Orioles on Friday, June 29 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
As previously announced, the MLB Network Showcase schedule will feature a rematch of the 2011 NLDS between the Phillies and Cardinals this Thursday, May 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET with Costas and Verducci calling the game live from Busch Stadium. The start of Memorial Day weekend will feature the Tigers hosting the Yankees on Friday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. ET with Costas and Smoltz in the broadcast booth at Comerica Park.
Starting Tuesday, May 29th, MLB Network’s live weekday studio programming will begin one hour earlier as The Rundown, hosted by Matt Yallof and Lauren Shehadi, moves to 2:00 p.m. ET, followed by Intentional Talk with Chris Rose and Kevin Millar at 5:00 p.m. ET. The Emmy Award-winning studio show MLB Tonight and Quick Pitch, MLB Network’s regular season highlights show of record, will continue to air seven days per week.
