NBC Sports Presents Penultimate NASCAR Races From Phoenix International Raceway
STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 11, 2015 – NBCSN presents a special “13 on 13” motorsports block this Friday, November 13, with 13 consecutive hours of motorsports action, highlighted by Formula One, NASCAR Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series, and Mecum Auctions coverage.
NBCSN’s “13 on 13” Friday the 13th motorsports block begins at 11 a.m. ET, with Practice 2 of the Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix, the penultimate race of the 2015 Formula One campaign. Friday’s “13 on 13” action on NBCSN includes live coverage of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and XFINITY Series practice and qualifying sessions from Phoenix International Raceway, beginning at 2 p.m. ET, and concludes with a four-hour Mecum Auctions block from this week’s Anaheim event at 8 p.m. ET.
Motorsports coverage on NBCSN rolls into the weekend with Saturday’s live presentation of the XFINITY DAV 200 Honoring America’s Veterans race at 4 p.m. ET, and live coverage of the F1 Brazilian Grand Prix this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. ET. NBCSN, CNBC and NBC Sports Live Extra will combine to provide comprehensive practice, qualifying and grand prix coverage from Brazil.
NBCSN will present nearly 20 hours of Mecum Auctions coverage from Anaheim, beginning tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. ET, and the finale of the 2015 Red Bull Global RallyCross season in Las Vegas on Thursday at 11:30 p.m. ET.
NBC Sports Live Extra – NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, tablets and connected TVs – will stream this week’s NASCAR, F1 and Mecum Auctions action.
F1 BRAZILIAN GRAND PRIX – SUNDAY AT 10:30 A.M. ET ON NBCSN
Formula One heads to Brazil this weekend for the annual Brazilian Grand Prix, a mainstay on the F1 schedule for more than 40 years. After both American driver Alexander Rossi (Marussia) and Mexican driver Sergio Perez (Force India) raced in front of their home fans at the U.S. and Mexican Grands Prix, two Brazilians, Felipe Massa and Felipe Nasr, will drive on native soil at Interlagos this weekend.
Massa (Williams) has won the Brazilian Grand Prix twice in his career (2006 & 2008), and finished on the podium last year at Interlagos with a third place showing. Nasr (Sauber), who is in his rookie season of F1, will be driving at Interlagos for the first time.
Live F1 action begins Friday morning with Practice 1 at 7 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Live Extra, followed by NBCSN’s live coverage of Practice 2 at 11 a.m. ET. NBCSN will televise same-day delayed coverage of Practice 1 at 1 p.m. ET, and Practice 2 at 11:30 p.m. ET. Live Extra will stream Practice 3 on Saturday at 8 a.m. ET, prior to live qualifying at 11 a.m. ET on CNBC.
Live coverage of the F1 Brazilian Grand Prix begins Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. ET, followed by post-race coverage on F1 Extra at 1 p.m. ET, and an encore presentation of the race on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Lead F1 announcer Leigh Diffey will call the Brazilian Grand Prix, and will be joined by veteran analyst and former racecar driver David Hobbs, and analyst and former race mechanic for the Benetton F1 team Steve Matchett. F1 insider Will Buxton will serve as the team’s on-site reporter from the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
NBC SPORTS GROUP’S F1 COVERAGE AVERAGING 535,000 VIEWERS, UP 14% WITH RECORD 2014 VIEWERSHIP
With just two races remaining in the F1 season, NBC Sports Group’s 2015 F1 race coverage has averaged 535,000 viewers, up 14% vs. the same point in the 2014 season (471,000). Following this week’s race in Brazil, NBCSN closes out its coverage of the 2015 F1 campaign with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, Nov. 29. This season, five races on NBCSN have eclipsed 500,000 viewers, more than the 2013 and 2014 seasons combined.
CLASSIC HOT RODS HIGHLIGHT NEARLY 20 HOURS OF MECUM AUCTIONS COVERAGE FROM ANAHEIM ON NBCSN THIS WEEKEND
An estimated 750 collector cars, highlighted by a trio of classic hot rods from “Street Rodder” magazine’s “Road Tour Collection” will come across the auction block during NBCSN’s 18.5 hours of Mecum Auctions coverage this week in Anaheim.
Coverage begins tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. ET and continues at 8 p.m. ET. Friday night is Mecum Auctions night on NBCSN this week, with 6.5 consecutive hours of auction action, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Weekend coverage begins Saturday at 9 a.m. ET, and concludes with a two-hour presentation on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Scott Hoke will host NBCSN’s Mecum Auctions coverage on-site at Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, alongside analysts John Kraman, Stephen Cox, and Bill Stephens. Mecum Auctions is led by Dana Mecum, Founder and President of Mecum Auctions for the past 27 years.
NBCSN AIRS FINALE OF RED BULL GLOBAL RALLYCROSS SEASON FROM LAS VEGAS THURSDAY AT 11:30 P.M. ET
NBCSN presents the finale of the 2015 Red Bull Global RallyCross season Thursday night at 11:30 p.m. ET with coverage from Las Vegas. Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross drivers Scott Speed and Tanner Foust were the only drivers mathematically eligible to take the season title heading into the finale, and could clinch the Manufacturers’ Championship for Volkswagen based on the race’s results.
NBC SPORTS PRESENTS PENULTIMATE NASCAR RACES FROM PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
With only two races left before the NASCAR Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series champions are crowned, NBC Sports gears up for a pivotal weekend of racing from Phoenix International Raceway. NASCAR Sprint Cup racing continues on NBC Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. ET, while NASCAR XFINITY Series racing returns to NBCSN Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
