JOHNNY FOOTBALL HIGHLIGHTS FOX SPORTS’ COVERAGE OF 77th AT&T COTTON BOWL
Two of college football’s top team’s battle in a prime time showdown this Friday, Jan. 4 (7:30 PM ET) as the 9th ranked Texas A&M Aggies travel to Cowboys Stadium to take on the 11th ranked Oklahoma Sooners in one of the most-anticipated college football bowl games this season. FOX COLLEGE FOOTBALL’S lead broadcast team of play-by-play announcer Gus Johnson and analyst Charles Davis are joined on the broadcast by on-field analyst Petros Papadakis and game reporter Julie Alexandria. Additionally, FOX COLLEGE FOOTBALL rules analyst Mike Pereira is on-site in the broadcast booth to offer his unique perspective and educate viewers on any controversial calls that may come up during the game.
FOX Sports’ AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic 30-minute pregame show is hosted by Erin Andrews alongside analysts Eddie George and Joey Harrington. Highlighting the network’s pregame and halftime coverage is a Heisman-to-Heisman sitdown interview with George and A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel to discuss winning college football’s most prestigious award and expectations for his future. Additionally, Former Secretary of Defense and former president of Texas A&M Robert Gates as well as Oklahoma alum and NBA standout Blake Griffin are featured.
DAVIS NAMES FIVE TO WATCH DURING COTTON BOWL CLASSIC – Like so many football fans, FOX College Football lead analyst Charles Davis is excited about Friday night’s highly-anticipated AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, which pits Texas A&M and Oklahoma, and reveals which players on each team have the ability to be the difference.
Texas A&M QB: Johnny Manziel – “First freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy and he’s done things that no player has ever done in the SEC, breaking records that Cam Newton set when he won the Heisman trophy at Auburn. Oklahoma is going to be chasing him all night.”
Oklahoma QB: Landry Jones – “He had some rough outing early but is playing his football as the season ends. He still has a chance to raise his stock in the NFL draft and leading Oklahoma to a win Friday night will do that.”
Texas A&M Defensive End: Demontre Moore – “He’s a former outside linebacker they moved to defensive end and was a finalist for best defensive end in the country, he’s a terrific player who can make a huge difference.”
Oklahoma Wide Receiver: Kenny Stills – “He started the season in the slot, moved out wide and he’s all over the place. He’s one that Texas A&M will have to corral to be successful.”
Texas A&M Offensive Tackle: Luke Joeckel – “He’s been a starter since he’s been a true freshman and played beyond that capacity since then. Projected by many to go No. 1 overall in the NFL draft.”

SCHRAGER: YOUNG GUNS CAN CHANGE QB POSITION IN NFL WITH SUCCESS – For the first time in NFL history, three rookie quarterbacks will start playoff games – Andrew Luck for the Colts, Russell Wilson for the Seahawks and Robert Griffin III for the Redskins. Two of them; Seattle’s Wilson and Washington’s RGIII are featured on FOX’s Seahawks-Redskins Wild Card matchup. FOXSports.com NFL contributor Peter Schrager can see the prototype of the NFL quarterback change if the rookie signal callers and their second-year counterparts find ultimate success in the playoffs. “Wilson, Griffin, and Colin Kaepernick will be playing for the future of how teams draft quarterbacks. We’ve already seen the read-option work with great success in those three cities,” Schrager writes. “If one of these three can win a Super Bowl, don’t be shocked if the “prototype” of an NFL quarterback changes from a standard drop-back guy to a mobile, outside-the-pocket playmaker moving forward.”
