Select Games on ESPN2 & WatchESPN
The 2012 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) season will feature six games on ESPN2 and 42 regular-season games delivered live on ESPN3 as the 12th season of MLL action is slated to begin Saturday, April 28, with a tripleheader. With the league expansion of Charlotte and Ohio, MLL has a record number of games across ESPN networks. In addition, the MLL All-Star Game and the MLL Championship Weekend will air on ESPN2, ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
The season opens with a tripleheader on ESPN3 at 7 p.m. ET, featuring Rochester at Boston, Denver at Charlotte and Chesapeake at Long Island. ESPN2, ESPN3 and WatchESPN will also air three regular-season games – Rochester at Long Island on Saturday, July 7, at 7:30 p.m., Charlotte at Denver on Saturday, July 14, at 7 p.m. and Chesapeake at Boston on Saturday, July 28, at 2 p.m.
The 2012 MLL All-Star Game will take place at FAU Stadium in Palm Beach County, Fla., Saturday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2, ESPN3 and WatchESPN. The season will culminate with the MLL Championship Weekend Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 25 & 26, at Harvard Stadium in Boston, Mass., airing the first semifinal and the championship game on ESPN2, ESPN3 and WatchESPN.
Play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati and analyst Quint Kessenich will once again serve as the commentator team for the MLL telecasts on ESPN2. Beninati will be returning for his 11th season, while Kessenich will begin his 12th with MLL. A variety of commentators will be utilized for ESPN3 including play-by-play announcers Beninati, Todd Bell, Jason Chandler, , Mike Evans, Scott Garceau, Eamon McAnaney, Dave Ryan and Tom Werme, along with analysts Kessenich, Paul Carcaterra, Brian Shanahan, Evan Washburn and Ron Zwerin.
ESPN has been the national television home of Major League Lacrosse since 2003, and in 2004 aired the New Balance Championship Game – the first live national telecast of a Major League Lacrosse competition.
