Below, TNT PGA analysts Ian Baker-Finch and Billy Kratzert preview the 95th PGA Championship:
TNT PGA ANALYST IAN BAKER-FINCH
|
Baker-Finch on the course at Oak Hill Country Club: |
“Oak Hill Country Club is one of the most difficult championship courses played today. The difference this year is that the course will be firm and fast. The driver will be used six or seven times which is a good thing because it tests every aspect of a player’s game. Players must be able to shape their shots both ways. It’s a difficult course in that regard. It’s probably the most difficult driving course I’ve ever seen.”
Baker-Finch’s players to watch:
“Phil Mickelson, Adam Scott, Brandt Snedeker and Lee Westwood.”
Baker-Finch on the best holes on the course to watch:
“The best holes to watch will be 13, 14 and 15. This will be a pivotal area of the course. A long par-5, a drivable par-4 and an impossible par-3.”
Baker-Finch’s under-the-radar player:
“Because it’s such a tough course with fast greens, Angel Cabrera will play well.” |
Kratzert on the course at Oak Hill Country Club: |
TNT PGA ANALYST BILLY KRATZERT
|
“The golf course itself is so rich with history. It is an old-style golf course that has many great holes requiring quality shots. The shot value at Oak Hill is as high as any course in major championship golf. It will be interesting to see how the 13th hole will play if they choose to move the tee markers up and allow the players to hit their tee shots over the creek.”
Kratzert’s players to watch:
“Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson, Brandt Snedeker, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will all have a great week. They are long hitters and can gear it back to a three iron or less to position the ball in the fairway. From there they can engineer shots. In my opinion, they are the best five players with irons.”
Kratzert on who most needs a PGA Championship win:
“Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia are two players that need to win and get that first major on the resume.”
Kratzert on the most challenging hole of the weekend:
“With the added length to the 17th hole, that’s going to be the strongest and toughest hole at Oak Hill once again. If you can get four pars there then you are well ahead of the field.” |
