Long: Saints Definitely Have Shot At Perfection
Waltrip: Danica Has A Tough Road Ahead
16-0 IN SIGHT FOR SAINTS – The 2009 NFL on FOX campaign rolls into Week 14 on Sunday, Dec. 13 with singleheader coverage of seven exciting matchups. At 1:00 PM ET, fresh off their escape in Washington, Drew Brees and the Saints look to improve to a perfect 13-0 in Atlanta when they take on the Falcons. Joe Buck, Troy Aikman and Pam Oliver call the action from the Georgia Dome. Tom Brady and the Patriots return home looking to put an end to their two-game slide. In order to do that, their defense will have to put the clamps on DeAngelo Williams and the Panthers rushing attack. In Chicago, Defensive Player of the Year candidate Charles Woodson and the Packers continue their playoff push against the Bears in a matchup of NFC North rivals. Lions at Ravens and Seahawks at Texans round out the early action. At 4PM ET, Vince Young and Titans attempt to build on their recent success as they welcome Steven Jackson and the Rams to Nashville. Following their exciting win over the Super Bowl Champion Steelers, Bruce Gradkowski and the Raiders return home to face Jason Campbell and the Redskins.
Coverage begins at 12:00 PM ET with America’s most-watched pregame show, FOX NFL SUNDAY. Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee co-host the Emmy Award-winning program and are joined by analysts Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy Johnson. The crew is joined by NFL Insider Jay Glazer who presents the latest league news and scoops in the FOX NFL SUNDAY studio and comedic prognosticator Frank Caliendo contributes his weekly “Frank’s Picks” segment. In this week’s show, Oliver sits down with Packers defensive stalwarts to discuss their journey from a struggling group adjusting to a new scheme to the menacing ball-hawking unit late in the year. Johnson tries to find out what is wrong with the New England Patriots and what can be done to fix them.

LONG: SAINTS LOOK DESTINED TO WIN – Following their improbable comeback over the Redskins, FOX NFL SUNDAY analyst and Hall of Famer Howie Long thinks that they are destined to finish undefeated. “After seeing them rally for their 12th win of the season against the Redskins, it’s hard to believe Drew Brees passed for 419 yards on what you could say was an off day,” said Long. “They play Atlanta Sunday and Matt Ryan may not play in that one, either. Then they get the Cowboys and Bucs in the Superdome before closing the season at Carolina. They definitely have a shot at 16-0!”

STRAHAN ON FLOZELL ADAMS: “HE’S JUST BEING AN IDIOT, IT’S UNNECESSARY” – Following Dallas Cowboys OT Flozell Adams’ confrontation with NY Giants defenseman Justin Tuck at the end of the second quarter this past Sunday, FOX NFL SUNDAY analyst Michael Strahan assessed the situation: “I like Flozell as a guy, but I think on the field right now he’s just being an idiot, it’s unnecessary,” said Strahan. “I don’t know what Flozell’s issue is with Justin Tuck. It’s like he just doesn’t care. He has that whole thing about where’s he’s going to wreak havoc and pay the consequences later and not worry about it at the time.”

DW: DANICA HAS A TOUGH ROAD AHEAD – FOX Sports prerace and race analyst and former NASCAR champion, Darrell Waltrip assesses Danica Patrick’s decision to race in the Nationwide Series in 2010. “It’s going to be an incredibly challenging undertaking and not just from the pure difficulty of racing two completely different race cars. The scheduling and the pressure to perform will be demanding as well. Stock cars are like wrestling bears. They’re not precise and quick-responding like an Indy car,” said Waltrip. While her transition to the Nationwide Series will be no easy task, DW thinks she picked the right team to make the switch. “Teaming with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and JR Motorsports makes them dynamic marketing pair and she’ll have all the right equipment and ingredients to have a fair chance to succeed. I just think the pressure of performing and being as good as people expect her to be is probably more than any person can handle. She’s going to be under such a magnifying glass.”
