PGA.com sees Double Digit Growth, Record Setting Traffic for its
2009 Open Championship Coverage from Turnberry Scotland
PGA.com, the home of The PGA of America, saw tremendous traffic increases on its site and microsite for its four rounds of coverage of the 138th Open Championship. Along with extensive up to the minute updates, PGA.com and its microsite offered three unique video stream options for golf fans to follow the action from the Aisla Course in Turnberry, Scotland, including the TNT Simulcast/World Feed, Close Up Coverage and Inside the Ropes access. The event culminated with Stewart Cink winning his first major championship in a playoff against five-time Open Championship winner Tom Watson.
PGA.com highlights from the four days of coverage include:
- 85 million Page Views, a 44% increase over last year
- 624,000 Daily Uniques, a 48% increase over last year
- Friday set single day British Open records for the site/microsite for most daily uniques (893,500) and Page Views (32 million)
- 594,000 Live Streams, an 80% increase over last year
PGA.com will once again provide comprehensive coverage and extensive video streaming options, including a live simulcast of TNT’s on-air coverage, during the 2009 PGA Championship in Chaska, Minnesota, August 13-17. PGA.com plans for coverage of golf’s final major of the year will be announced at a later date.
