Below are excerpts transcribed from this week’s episode:
(Chad Ochocinco on his recent tweet that made headline news)
Ochocinco: Man that was merely just a joke, merely just a joke. Just shedding a little light on the situation that’s all. Of course you know the media or whoever wrote that took it and ran with it. Of course that is not really my rehab. I have been getting my treatment everyday and my knee is getting better man. I’ll be fine. The little sexcapade thing was all a joke.
(Ochocinco on a game plan to attack Darrelle Revis this week differently than last week)
Ochocinco: We have a beautiful, beautiful field here. There will be no ice. There will be no ice on our field. Not to use any excuses, but we will be able to have a great game.
(On Washington Redskins hiring Mike Shanahan)
Michael Lombardi: There will be a lot of changes in Washington. The first change that is going to happen is that no longer will people be able to walk down to the owner’s office and say, ‘I have a problem that is going on in practice.’ Mike Shanahan is in full control.
(On Cleveland Coaching Situation)
Lombardi: Mike Holmgren is in charge of everything in Cleveland. In fact, I am not so sure he isn’t in charge of the soccer team over in England. He has everything going for him. Randy Lerner gave him the store. With that store I think ultimately Eric Mangini, because they are so different systematically…there is just no way they can co-exist smoothly and potentially work this thing out.
(On Wes Welker Injury validating Colts not playing their starters)
Cris Collinsworth: No, the Colts had a chance to go for an undefeated season. They had a chance to go for history in the National Football League and all they did was pull their guys out of the second half of a game against the Jets, in which I think they would have pretty easily won had they played. And then they had the Buffalo Bills and they played their guys there and tried to get individual records. So I don’t know what they accomplished by pulling their guys out and losing the last two games.
Warren Sapp: One thing they did was create doubt and a bunch of questions for their players to answer, that they didn’t have to answer. Even more than that, you can blow your ACL out in practice, walking down the hallway, doing any regular activity that you do around any football facility. But to cheat the season like they did and then to come back and put Peyton Manning in that snow storm for a couple of completions, come on. It’s a farce.
Phil Simms: We are talking really about two quarters of football that they stopped playing. If they play those two quarters they are going to be 16-0.
(On Incentives for teams playing for an undefeated season)
Collinsworth: Sometimes I make it too easy on these guys, but I am going to go with it. I actually agree with the Commissioner if he uses this plan…What happens is at the end of the year these great teams go undefeated and they end up pulling their starters and the fans are robbed of the chance to see a perfect season, which we all get hyped up about that kind of stuff. So here is the plan: If you win 14 games, they will give you a third round pick, if you win 15 games you get a second round pick, if you go undefeated you get a first round draft pick. That way you are incentivised to go for it.
Simms: Are you running a fever?…That is one of the worst ideas I have ever heard.
