Ernie Johnson, Greg Anthony and Steve Smith

Anthony on Portland Trail Blazers rookie point guard Damian Lillard: “He allows his talent to let his team win. His game has impacted his team in terms of how they perform in winning situations. In terms of his ability to shoot the basketball, he’s as good as anyone in the league at that [point guard] position. He plays the point guard position differently; he creates his angles for vision because he shoots it so well. He has a great basketball I.Q. and he’s a tremendous competitor. His teammates really trust him on the floor and as a young player that’s hard to gain.

Smith on Blazers rookie forward/center Meyers Leonard: “I’m impressed with Meyers Leonard. I think he’s done an excellent job. He hasn’t been consistent, but at times he’s shown flashes. They need him to be more consistent.”

Smith on Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried’s impact on the team: “[The Nuggets] wear you down because of their mental toughness. They come in with waves and waves of big guys who can run. Kenneth Faried has been their All-Star this season. He’s kept them afloat with his hustle, his determination and the way he plays the game.”

Anthony on Faried: “I think Faried has had an All-Star caliber year. When you play with the passion and fire that he plays with, it wills his teammates to compete just as hard.”

Smith on Nuggets forward Andre Iguodala: “On the offensive end, I would love to see Iguodala take over the game. Not for 48 minutes, but for five to six minutes in the game be the best player on the court offensively.”

Anthony on Lillard: “His friends call him ROY…Rookie of the Year.”

Faried on the Nuggets commitment to running: “Our commitment to run is amazing. Guys want to get in and not just run for their own points but running to get fast breaks so teammates can score.”

Faried on the possibility of making the All-Star team: “I’m only a sophomore [in the NBA] but that would mean a lot to me. Without [my teammates] there is no me. They help me, they give me the confidence and the ability to get where I am this season. Hopefully, I’ll get the [fan] vote but as long as we’re winning, I really don’t care.”

Anthony on Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson: “He’s starting to get back into the rhythm that got him a big contract in the off-season.”

Smith on Houston Rockets forward Chandler Parsons: “I love his game. [He goes] inside and outside to make plays. He has a great understanding of the game.”

Anthony on Los Angeles Clippers sixth man Jamal Crawford’s chances of making the All-Star team: “He’s definitely having an All-Star caliber season but the numbers game [at the guard position in the Western Conference] is probably going to work against him.”
