Stamford, Conn. – December 18, 2013 – Jay Cutler and the NFC North-leading Chicago Bears (8-6) travel to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa., to take on Nick Foles and the NFC East-leading Eagles (8-6) on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Coverage begins with Football Night In America at 7 p.m. ET on NBC.
The Bears control the NFC North and their division title chances. With a win against the Eagles on Sunday, and losses by both the Lions and Packers, Chicago will clinch their division. The Bears could also win the NFC North with a win over the Eagles on Sunday, and a victory against the Packers on December 29.
The Eagles are in control of the NFC East and can also wrap up their division on Sunday night. With a win against the Bears and a loss by the Cowboys, Philadelphia will clinch the NFC East. The Eagles can also win the NFC East with a victory on Sunday night, and a win against the Cowboys on December 29. The Eagles have the NFL’s top rushing offense and rank second in the league in total offense. In addition, QB Nick Foles has the NFL’s best passer rating (117.0), and RB LeSean McCoy leads the league in rushing yards (1,343).
Calling Bears-Eagles is seven-time Emmy Award-winner Al Michaels (play-by-play), in his 28th season as the voice of the NFL’s premier primetime package; 14-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth, who has won the Emmy for Outstanding Event Analyst in each of his four seasons in the Sunday Night Football booth; and Emmy Award-winning sideline reporter Michele Tafoya.
NBC’s coverage of Sunday Night Football is led by Emmy Award-winning coordinating producer Fred Gaudelli and Emmy Award-winning director Drew Esocoff. Sunday Night Football has won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Sports Series for five consecutive years. In addition, NBC’s Sunday Night Football on air and production team have a combined 40 Emmy Awards.
Football Night In America, the most-watched pre-game show in sports, is hosted by 25-time Emmy Award-winner Bob Costas, who will report from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia Pa. Costas will be joined on-site by Michaels, Collinsworth, and two-time Super Bowl winner and Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward.
Dan Patrick co-hosts Football Night from NBC’s famed Studio 8H at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Patrick will be joined by Super Bowl-winning head coach Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison, Peter King of Sports Illustrated, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk on NBCSN and NBCSports.com, and longtime NFL front office veteran and former NFL Executive of the Year Scott Pioli. Alex Flanagan will report from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD, on the Patriots-Ravens game.
“This game is going to be about defense. Which one of these defenses is finally going to be able to stand up and make plays? Chicago has not been good about the run all year. The Eagles have LeSean McCoy, who can put up yards like mad if you are not tackling well.” – Tony Dungy
“The one advantage the Chicago Bears have is their big physical receivers. Cutler can just drop back, throw the ball up there and let those 6’4” and 6’5” guys go up and get the ball. I know Eagles QB Nick Foles has struggled, but I don’t really worry about him. He’s a quality quarterback, but I do worry about the Eagles defense.” – Rodney Harrison

NEW EPISODES OF FNIA COACH’S CLICKER AND NFL TURNING POINT AIR TONIGHT ON NBCSN
NBCSN’s NFL coverage breaks down the Packers’ stunning comeback in Dallas, analyzes how Ryan Tannehill outdueled Tom Brady, and previews a pivotal Sunday Night Football showdown between the Bears and Eagles, with new episodes tonight of FNIA Coach’s Clicker at 5 p.m. ET and NFL Turning Point at 11 p.m. ET.
FNIA Coach’s Clicker, hosted by Liam McHugh with Super Bowl-winning head coach Tony Dungy and two-time Super Bowl winner Rodney Harrison, looks ahead to the weekend’s most compelling matchups, starting in Philadelphia, where the Eagles and Bears will aim to potentially clinch division titles on Sunday Night Football.
Dungy and Harrison will dissect how QB Nick Foles and RB LeSean McCoy have flourished in head coach Chip Kelly’s offense, and examine how the Philadelphia defense will attempt to stop the Bears’ offensive weapons, including RB Matt Forte and WRs Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. In addition, Scott Pioli of Football Night In America and Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk will discuss the Bears QB situation, deciphering how Chicago should proceed heading into the offseason.
FNIA Coach’s Clicker will preview this week’s Patriots-Ravens game, revisiting their matchup from the 2013 AFC Championship Game, and highlighting how Brady and QB Joe Flacco have performed in late-game situations. The episode will also break down a key NFC South contest between the Saints and Panthers, focusing on QB Drew Brees’ success against Carolina in Week 13, and how the New Orleans defense will defend QB Cam Newton.
NFL Turning Point, hosted by Football Night In America’s Dan Patrick, looks back at a wild Week 15, highlighted by last-minute victories by the Packers and Dolphins that kept both teams’ playoff hopes alive.
NFL Turning Point reviews Cowboys-Packers, and examines a tale of two halves for both teams, as Green Bay erased a 26-3 halftime deficit en route to a 37-36 win. The program reviews how QB Tony Romo had success in the first half against the Packers defense, but faltered in the game’s final two drives, throwing two interceptions to set up Green Bay’s go-ahead score and seal their victory.
The program will also break down last Sunday’s Patriots-Dolphins game, in which Tannehill outdueled Brady, focusing on the battle between the two quarterbacks after the teams were tied, 10-10, headed into the fourth quarter. Turning Point analyzes how Brady led the Patriots down the field on a touchdown drive, only to be matched by Tannehill’s pass to WR Marcus Thigpen with 1:15 left in the game. Miami’s final drive was kept alive by Tannehill’s fourth-down conversion to TE Charles Clay, his only reception of the game.
This week’s program will also feature audio from Cam Newton from the Panthers’ 30-20 victory over the Jets last Sunday.
