ESPN to Debut New KIA NBA Countdown Set Christmas Day
ESPN will debut a new KIA NBA Countdown set on ABC’s Countdown broadcast on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, at 2:30 p.m. ET. The 4,000 square-foot set is the largest at ESPN’s Los Angeles Production Center. The set features several new elements, highlighted by six automated mobile video monitors and more space and maneuverability for Countdown analysts Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Bill Simmons, Jalen Rose and Michael Wilbon. As a result, there will be greater implementation of video within the show to complement the discussion.
“This new set will allow for an even better showcase of the dynamic personalities and various perspectives that defines the program,” said Mark Gross, ESPN senior vice president and executive producer. “The combination of more tools and more space will enable our commentators to further emphasize key points and elaborate on analysis, which will significantly enhance the fan experience.”
New KIA NBACountdown set highlights:
Ø Largest set at ESPN’s Los Angeles Production Center
Ø Six new automated, mobile video monitors
Ø Four 8’ x 5’ LED center displays
Ø Two plasma displays on either side of the set
Ø Greatly increased studio space to aid analyst maneuverability throughout the set
Ø More video to complement discussion
Ø Larger oval-shaped desk to foster free-flowing, conversational style of show
