NBCSN Presents Four Hours of Live Coverage, Starting at 4:30 p.m. ET on Saturday

NBC Sports Live Extra to Provide Streaming Coverage
STAMFORD, Conn. – May 29, 2014 – NBC and NBCSN will combine to present seven hours of live coverage of the annual USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship this weekend from PPL Park in Philadelphia, Pa.
Coverage begins on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC with live preliminary round matches, and continues on NBCSN at 4:30 p.m. ET. NBC Sports Group’s live presentation of the Collegiate Rugby Championship resumes Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and shifts to NBC at 4 p.m. ET with live coverage of the Shield, Bowl, Plate and Championship Finals.
Veteran announcer Todd Harris will serve as the play-by-play commentator for all telecasts. Harris will be joined in the booth by former USA Sevens captain and USA Rugby World Cup participant Brian Hightower. Marty Snider will report all the action from the sidelines.
The fifth annual USA Sevens Collegiate Rugby Championship will be held at PPL Park and features 20 teams from various colleges, including defending-champion California, two-time tournament champion Dartmouth, Arizona, Drexel, Kutztown, Life, Maryland, Michigan, Navy, Northeastern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn, Penn State, St. Joseph’s, Temple, Texas, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and UCLA.
All matches will consist of seven players per team, playing on the same size pitch as a traditional 15’s rugby match. Teams will compete in one of five pools and will play seven minute halves, with a two-minute halftime. Rugby Sevens will become an official Olympic sport in 2016 and the Collegiate Rugby Championship will offer fans a unique opportunity to preview some of the talent who may ultimately qualify for the U.S. Olympic team.
COLLEGIATE RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP ON THE COMCAST NETWORK
The Comcast Network will air live coverage on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET, with encore presentations of Collegiate Rugby Championship on The Comcast Network on Sunday at noon ET and Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. The Comcast Network’s coverage on Saturday will feature local colleges and universities, including Drexel, Temple, Penn State, St. Joe’s and Kutztown. SportsNet Central, CSN Philadelphia’s daily news program, and CSNPhilly.com will also provide coverage of the Collegiate Rugby Championship this weekend.
