SIRIUS XM RADIO TO PROVIDE LIVE COVERAGE OF 2009 HAMBLETONIAN HARNESS RACE
Special edition of “Down The Stretch Race of the Week” airs August 8 on SIRIUS and XM
NEW YORK – August 5, 2009 – SIRIUS XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) announced today that it will provide comprehensive live radio coverage of the 84th edition of The Hambletonian, harness racing’s premier event for three-year-old trotters, from the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey this Saturday, August 8.
The race will air as part of a special edition of SIRIUS XM’s exclusive horse racing program, Down The Stretch Race of the Week, hosted by acclaimed track announcer Dave Johnson and journalist Bill Finley.
SIRIUS XM’s coverage – which will air live from 4:00 – 5:00 pm ET on SIRIUS channel 122 and XM channel 143 – will include the live race call by track announcer Sam McKee, plus reports from the paddock and interviews with drivers, trainers and owners.
“The Hambletonian is the top trotting race in standardbred racing and we’re delighted to deliver this great event live to our listeners on SIRIUS and XM,” said Johnson. “Muscle Hill is a true superstar, and we are all anxious to see if he stretches his winning streak to 13 victories in a row this Saturday.”
