Live Coverage Of The 2010 American Cup Of Gymnastics On NBC Sports And Universal Sports This Weekend

LIVE COVERAGE OF THE 2010 AMERICAN CUP OF GYMNASTICS ON NBC SPORTS AND UNIVERSAL SPORTS THIS WEEKEND

NEW YORK – March 4, 2010 - NBC Sports and Universal Sports combine to provide three and a half hours of live competition from the 2010 Tyson American Cup gymnastics competition this Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET on Universal Sports.

NBC’s Olympic gymnastics broadcast team of Al Trautwig (host), Tim Daggett (analyst), Elfi Schlegel (analyst) and Andrea Joyce (reporter) provide the commentary from the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass. Live coverage of the 2010 Tyson American Cup will begin Saturday on Universal Sports (11:30-1 p.m. ET), and continues on NBC Sports from 1-3 p.m. ET.

Athletes representing the U.S. include the 2009 World all-around silver-medalist Rebecca Bross of Plano, Texas; the 2009 Junior Pan American Championships vault and floor exercise champion Alexandra Raisman of Needham, Mass.; two-time Tyson American Cup champion Jonathan Horton of Houston (who is also the 2008 Olympic horizontal bar silver medalist and the 2009 U.S. all-around champion); and the 2010 Winter Cup Challenge all-around champion Chris Brooks of Houston, Texas.

The U.S. faces strong competition from gymnasts representing 11 different countries. Reigning Tyson American Cup champion and 2008 Olympic horizontal bar bronze medalist Fabian Hambuechen of Germany highlights the international field that includes 2009 World all-around silver medalist Daniel Keatings of Great Britain, 2009 World vault silver-medalists Ariella Kaeslin of Switzerland and Flavius Koczi of Romania, 2009 World all-around fifth-place finisher Maxim Devyatovsky of Russia, 2009 World vault-finalist Elsa Garcia of Mexico, and World Cup floor exercise bronze-medalist Elisabeth Seitz of Germany.

The 2010 Tyson American Cup features an all-around format, which means the men compete on all six apparatus and the women on all four.  The male and female gymnasts with the highest score at the end of the competition win the coveted Tyson American Cup title.
